Roadblocks Set Up to Catch Drivers Smoking


Council wardens and Essex Police will carry out random inspections across the county to look for evidence of illicit cigarette use.

They will even hunt for cigarette butts in the ashtrays and smell the air inside the vehicles in order to clamp down on the outlawed practice.

Workers were banned from smoking in their company cars as part of the Health Act introduced in 2006.'

  1. Hmmm, that's the main problem with the UK. With all the resources we have, we spend, no waste time on some of the most irrelevant hings you can imagine.

    There are so many more urgent and pressing issues to tackle other than people smoking in their company cars.

    What foolishness.

  2. Oh, and by the way, I am a non-smoker, but really the police have more important crimes to oversee than who is smoking in their company car.

    Rapists, drug dealers, killers and all kinds of serious criminals running up and down the streets committing crimes...

    Real crimes are a priority for the police.

    Let the respective companies check their own vans and cars for evidence of smoking.

    That's like telling the police to check to see if drains are blocked...isn't that someone else's job?
