Obama: 'American People Will Feel That I Deserve a Second Term'

President Obama said Friday that he's convinced that voters will come to see him as the candidate best prepared to serve as president by next fall's elections.

The president said he thinks that he can make the case for a second term, though he acknowledged that the state of the economy could be his biggest hurdle to clear in winning reelection.

"I think the economy's going to continue to improve, and I think I'm going to be able to make an effective case that ... I am the person who is best prepared to finish the job so that we are on track to succeed in the 21st century," Obama said in a video interview this morning with The Associated Press.'

Tim Geithner Convinced New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo To Back Off Wall Street Prosecutions

It is a question asked repeatedly across America: why, in the aftermath of a financial mess that generated hundreds of billions in losses, have no high-profile participants in the disaster been prosecuted?

Answering such a question — the equivalent of determining why a dog did not bark — is anything but simple. But a private meeting in mid-October 2008 between Timothy F. Geithner, then-president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and Andrew M. Cuomo, New York’s attorney general at the time, illustrates the complexities of pursuing legal cases in a time of panic.'

Reports of Elder Abuse Result in Restraining Orders . . . But Not How You´d Think

In an unparalleled action in an ex parte hearing on April 1, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz issued a Restraining Order against a local physician, Dr. Laura Moire, blocking her from taking further action or making more reports in regards to conservatee Jean Tanaka.

Dr. Moire, who is considered an expert in elder abuse, is a founder of the Geriatric Division of the American College of Emergency Medicine, a founding member of the American College of Forensic Medicine as well as a member of the White House Conference on Aging, among numerous other honors and affiliations. Dr. Moire took a sole action of calling both Adult Protective Services and the police on the evening of March 30, 2011, in an attempt to alert these agencies as to her concerns of abuse being inflicted upon Mrs. Tanaka through the auspices of conservator Linda Cotterman.'

ATTENTION CONGRESS: CLOSE THE LOOPHOLE: Hedge Fund Manager John Paulson Earned $5 Billion In 2010, Paid Only 15% Tax

Hedge fund managers benefit from preferential tax treatment that middle-income Americans don’t. Israel’s Bitch Unanimously Votes To Kill Goldstone Report

The U.S. Senate unanimously approved a resolution calling on the United Nations to rescind the Goldstone report.

The world's banks face a $3.6 trillion "wall of maturing debt" in the next two years

Armed Agents Kidnap Child From Mother who Used Holistic Treatments Instead of Pharmaceutical Drugs to Treat Condition

Maryanne Godboldo of Detroit, Mich., recently learned the hard way that freedom of choice in medicine is no longer tolerated by the medical mafia in the supposed "land of the free." Recently, armed officers from the Special Response Team (SRT) of the Detroit Police Department (DPD), at the command of Child Protective Services (CPS), unlawfully kicked down the door of Godboldo's home and kidnapped her 13-year-old child. Her crime? Maryanne chose to follow the lead of a doctor's recommendation to take her daughter off a pharmaceutical drug treatment recommendation for psychosis that was worsening the child's symptoms, and instead chose to use natural remedies to treat the condition.

It all started back in 2009 when Maryanne's previously-homeschooled daughter went in for a series of routine vaccinations in order to be enrolled in middle school. Shortly after receiving the shots, the child began to have severe adverse reactions that included "acting out of character, being irritated, having facial grimaces," and other behavioral problems that Maryanne's mother says she had never had before, and all of which emerged immediately after the vaccines were administered.'

British MPs Condemn Prime Minister Over Libya

British lawmakers have condemned Prime Minister David Cameron's talk of regime change in Libya as “outrageous”, saying he is illegally seeking to topple Muammar Qaddafi.

Members of Parliament (MPs) called for a recall of parliament on Friday, insisting that they had only supported the government in its attempt to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya to protect civilians as stipulated by the UN Security Council resolution 1973 last month, British media reported.

David Cameron drew MPs' condemnation when he published a joint article by US president Barack Obama, and French president Nicolas Sarkozy, boasting that Qaddafi “must go, and go for good.'

UK Royal Wedding to Cost the Taxpayer $48 Million

British lavish royal wedding of Prince Williams and his wife-to-be Kate Middleton is to cost British nationals more than $48 million.

It is widely believed that the $48-million cost of the royal wedding on April 29 at London's Westminster Abbey would be paid by British citizens rather than the royal family itself.

Despite being in an atrocious economic condition, Britain will hold the extravagant wedding, for which the UK royal family can certainly afford to pay, since the family reportedly owns billions of pounds.

In addition, the declaration of April 29 as a national holiday will cost Britain about $9.6 billion.'

Libya: Recall Parliament Over Mission, Urges Tory MP

A Tory MP has said Parliament should be recalled over Libya, after the prime minister said there could be no peace while Col Gaddafi remains in power.

John Baron, the only Conservative to vote against military action, said the PM's statement was a "clear alteration to the original mission".

He said the action had been put forward as a humanitarian mission - adding: "Clearly that is no longer the case."

Libya: Obama, Cameron and Sarkozy Vow Gaddafi Must Go

An open letter by Obama, Cameron & Sarkozy comes at a time of growing unease at the failure of Western military action to dislodge Mr Gaddafi and tensions within Nato over the reluctance of certain members to do more.

While the coalition has no mandate to remove Col Gaddafi by force, "it is impossible to imagine a future for Libya with Gaddafi in power", the leaders say.

To allow him to remain in power "would be an unconscionable betrayal" of Libya's people, they argue, and would make Libya both "a pariah state [and] a failed state".

The three leaders clearly feel that this is an important moment to present a united front and they are saying that it is not enough simply to protect Libyan civilians.

Brown Ready to Bounce Back With Lucrative Job as Adviser

One year after an uncomfortable general election campaign which saw him lose power after almost three years as Prime Minister, Gordon Brown could soon land a plum international job.

The 60-year-old former Labour leader is being tipped to take on a lucrative advisory role at the World Economic Forum (WEF), the influential body which holds meetings of politicians, business leaders and academics in Davos, Switzerland, each winter.

If Mr Brown accepts the job of auditing its policy work, it could prove a stepping stone to the post friends believe he really wants – as the £270,000-a-year managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

SWAT Attacks Home School Mom for Refusing to Force Med Child

Detroit mother Maryanne Godboldo faces multiple felony charges and is being held on $500,000 bond after a 10-hour standoff with a heavily armed police SWAT team. Godboldo was protecting her 13-year-old daughter from unnecessary medication ordered by the state.

Godboldo’s daughter was born with a defective foot that required amputation of her leg below the knee, which led to Maryanne becoming a stay-at-home mother after her birth, according to Health Impact News Daily.

Despite her handicap, the child swam, sang, danced and played the piano. However, as the home schooled girl approached middle school age, she apparently wanted to start attending public school, and therefore had to “catch up” on immunizations the state insists are required under color of law.

Public Space in Westminster - Not for the Homeless

Over the last three decades, the number of ways in which state and non-state authorities in the UK can limit access to public and quasi-public space has increased rapidly. ASBOs, dispersal orders, CCTV (including 'talking' CCTV), and growing numbers of private security guards are some of the myriad of ways in which access to ostensibly public areas can be regulated and policed. The Council of the City of Westminster in London has gone a step further and is attempting to introduce a new measure that would effectively criminalise homelessness within a significant section of its jurisdiction.

How 12 Multinational Corporations Avoid Paying Taxes

Over the past month, General Electric has been held up as the pinnacle of corporate vampirism –– the world’s largest corporation in the world’s lowest tax bracket. But it’s not just GE that’s bilking the system and paying zero dollars in taxes.

A new report out today illustrates that at least 11 other multinational, billion-dollar corporations managed to get a free pass from the IRS – and not only that, but while average Americans scraped their piggy banks to pay hefty taxes on paltry paychecks, many of these companies actually got a refund.

Super Bug Breakthrough -- Manuka Honey May Reverse Antibiotic Resistance

In less than a week, three different research studies have been released about antibiotic-resistant super bugs. Two were issued as nothing less than dire warnings. For example, as NaturalNews covered earlier, UK scientists are calling for the "urgent need for global action" due to the discovery of a spreading phenomenon -- a gene that is turning bacteria into not just super bugs but SUPER superbugs.

Tired of all this bad news? Keep reading. Because amid all this gloom-and-doom about the threat of deadly super bugs comes yet another study from a third group of scientists that reaches a new and hopeful conclusion.

World Bank Warns of Soaring Food Prices

The World Bank has warned that global food prices have reached unsafe levels, pushing 44 million people, mostly in poor countries, into poverty since June last year.

"We are in a danger zone because prices have already gone up; stocks for many commodities are relatively low," AFP quoted World Bank President Robert Zoellick as saying on Thursday.

Speaking after the opening of the bank's annual meeting with the International Monetary Fund in Washington, Zoellick stated that the fluctuations in food prices pose a great threat to the lives of the poor people in the world.

Co-Authors Back Goldstone's First Report

Three of the co-authors of a UN report, concluding that Israel committed war crimes during its war on Gaza, say they stand by their investigation.

Rejecting calls to retract the report, as the leading author of the document, Richard Goldstone, recently said, they insisted on Thursday that they would oppose any attempts to cancel the report's conclusion.

They said in a statement to The Guardian newspaper in Britain that they found it “necessary to dispel any impression that subsequent developments have rendered any part of the mission's report unsubstantiated,” AFP reported.

Britain is a 'Transit Lounge for War Criminals'

The Coalition was accused of turning Britain into a 'transit lounge for alleged war criminals' today after it was disclosed that Libyan defector Musa Kusa had been allowed to leave the country.

Muammar Gaddafi's former right-hand man is travelling to Qatar ahead of a meeting of the international alliance's Contact Group tomorrow.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said Kusa was 'free to come and go', and would be seeing representatives of the Doha government and others to 'offer insights' on the situation.'

San Francisco to Require ID Scans, Photos of Everyone Who Goes to a Venue

San Francisco's Entertainment Commission has proposed that all bars, clubs, and venues should be required to photograph and collect ID from everyone who comes in for a drink or a show. The photos and personal information would be retained so that police could get a list of every person who was in the club on any given night. Leaving aside the (obvious) fourth amendment issues inherent in governments collecting massive databases of presumed-innocent people's lawful activities and movements, this is also a security nightmare, in which thousands of club staff and their friends would have access to personal information that would be of great interest to stalkers, creeps and identity thieves.'

Mainstream Media Buries the Lead, Again

The headline in yesterday’s USA Today read “The World to the Rescue.” It was followed by the sub-headline, “Japan crisis showcases social media’s muscle.” When I saw this, I immediately thought that the nuclear crisis was under control and folks were using the Internet to help the island country recover.

The story said, “Japan’s disaster has spotlighted the critical role that social media websites such as Twitter, Facebook, Google, You Tube and Skype increasingly are playing in responses to crises around the world. They may have been designed largely for online socializing and fun, but such sites and others have empowered people caught up in crises and others wanting to help to share vivid, unfiltered images, audio and text reports before governments or more traditional media can do so".'

Scientists Successfully Generate Electricity Using Freshwater and Saltwater

By simply utilizing what nature has to offer in terms of water, scientists from Stanford University have developed an effective way to generate electricity naturally and without causing pollution. Yi Cui, associate professor of materials science and engineering at Stanford, and his colleagues have developed a system that generates electricity using electrodes and a combination of freshwater and saltwater -- and nothing more.

The process involves the utilization of ions found naturally in saltwater, as well as those generated by electrodes submerged in water. A positive and negative electrode pair are first used to charge freshwater with ions, which is then drained and replaced with saltwater. The saltwater, which is naturally up to 100 times more ionic than the freshwater, increases the voltage causes a net gain in electricity. This electricity is then captured and stored in large batteries.'

The False Prophet of Obama and his Ministry of Economic Voodoo

A mugger confronts a business man walking down the street, flashing a sharp knife. "Give me all your money. I've got kids to feed," he insists. The business man calmly responds, "Well that's not fair, I've got kids to feed, too." Momentarily flummoxed, the mugger works out a bit of math and retorts, "Okay, I'm gonna take a balanced approach with you. Just give me HALF of all your money, and we'll call it even."

Such is the logic of the Obama administration, which now absurdly proposes that spending America into a total debt collapse is somehow a "balanced approach." Sure, it is balanced in the same way that a man walking a tightrope strung 35 stories above the city street, carrying two suitcases stuffed with hundreds of pounds of T-bills, with strong winds and a forecast of an approaching hail storm is also "balanced".'

Libya All About Oil, or Central Banking?

Several writers have noted the odd fact that the Libyan rebels took time out from their rebellion in March to create their own central bank - this before they even had a government. Robert Wenzel wrote in the Economic Policy Journal:

I have never before heard of a central bank being created in just a matter of weeks out of a popular uprising. This suggests we have a bit more than a rag tag bunch of rebels running around and that there are some pretty sophisticated influences.'

65 Ways That Everything That You Think That You Own Is Being Systematically Taken Away From You

Everything that you own is slowly being taken away from you. It is being done purposely and it is being done by design.

Many Americans like to think of themselves as "well off", but as will be demonstrated below, we don't "own" nearly as much as we think that we do. The truth is that most of us have to frantically run around accumulating wealth as rapidly as we can so that we can somehow stay ahead of the rate that wealth is being taken away from us. The entire system is designed to take what you have away from you.

There are many ways that this is accomplished - taxation, inflation, debt, interest, fines, fees, tickets, government seizures and good old-fashioned corporate greed. If you tried to just sit back and do nothing but hold on to the wealth that you already have you would find out that it would disappear rather quickly. When you take the time to really analyze our system the conclusion is undeniable - everything that you think that you own is being systematically taken away from you.'

North Carolina Not the Only State Trying to Criminalize Alternative Health Services

A closer look at the attempt by North Carolina legislators to criminalize anything other than state sponsored health care is quite revealing. Below is the bill text, sort of, with some observations about the language, or lack thereof, defining what this bill is actually intended to do.

What is apparent is that it is the first step in implementing various aspects of Codex Alimentarius which excludes any health practice not listed in the Codex. Codex specifically targets and intends to end the use of alternative therapies and also vitamins and supplements.'

Matt Taibbi: The Real Housewives Of Wall Street: How Morgan Stanley Wives Christy Mack & Susan Karches Ripped Off Taxpayers In Geithner-Bernanke Bailout Scheme

But if you want to get a true sense of what the "shadow budget" is all about, all you have to do is look closely at the taxpayer money handed over to a single company that goes by a seemingly innocuous name: Waterfall TALF Opportunity. At first glance, Waterfall's haul doesn't seem all that huge — just nine loans totaling some $220 million, made through a Fed bailout program. That doesn't seem like a whole lot, considering that Goldman Sachs alone received roughly $800 billion in loans from the Fed. But upon closer inspection, Waterfall TALF Opportunity boasts a couple of interesting names among its chief investors: Christy Mack and Susan Karches.

Christy is the wife of John Mack, the chairman of Morgan Stanley. Susan is the widow of Peter Karches, a close friend of the Macks who served as president of Morgan Stanley's investment-banking division. Neither woman appears to have any serious history in business, apart from a few philanthropic experiences. Yet the Federal Reserve handed them both low-interest loans of nearly a quarter of a billion dollars through a complicated bailout program that virtually guaranteed them millions in risk-free income.'

Treatments for Nuclear Contamination

Besides having iodine on hand for emergencies, we can grow (and, at present, purchase) herbs and foods that prevent our bodies from storing radioactive particles. Some of these foods and herbs even remove radioactive particles from our bodies. As we are all already being affected by radiation released by numerous sources, eating these foods and doing detoxification and chelation protocols regularly is a good idea.

If you have been exposed to too many X-rays or CAT scans, if you fly too much, work with diagnostic medical equipment or are environmentally sensitive and have ingested elevated levels of radioactive contaminated food, air or water, you also want to partake of the following protocol on a regular basis.'
