Several killed in Damascus bombing

At least 17 people have been killed and at least 14 injured in a car bomb attack in the Syrian capital Damascus, Syrian television reports.
The car bomb, which Syrian public television said contained about 200kg of explosives, detonated in a southern suburb of the capital at about 8am [0500 GMT] on Saturday.
All of the victims are believed to be civilians.
The blast occurred at an intersection leading to Saydah Zeinab, a holy shrine for Shia Muslims that is visited by Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims.
The site is close to a security post in the Sidi Qada district near the airport road, Abdul Hameed Tawfiq, Al Jazeera's correspondent in Damascus reported.
The area is a heavily populated area of Damascus, he said.

My bet is that this is a CIA/Mossad False flag that will get blamed on Iran or the same outfit that claimed responsibility for the Marriot bombing either to try and drive a wedge between Syria and Iran and also to warn Syria about not entering Lebanon with their 10,000 troops they have alongside the Lebanese border

Back to the Dark Ages: National Grid raises the spectre of blackouts this winter

Homes could be plunged into darkness this winter as the nation faces the shocking prospect of power cuts.
The warning, following the release of grim industry figures yesterday, will dredge up memories of the last electricity crisis in 1974.
Then, households had to manage with candles, factories were put on short-time and TV broadcasts ended at 10.30pm.
The figures from the National Grid suggest that the country could be crippled by energy shortages when the colder weather bites because there is so little spare capacity.
The loss of only one of our 38 biggest power stations at times of high demand could lead to breaks in supply, bringing factories to a halt and leaving many homes in darkness.
'We should be very worried - this is reaching national crisis proportions but the response is piecemeal and inadequate,' said the industry watchdog

Royal Navy won't fight pirates 'in case they claim asylum'

Comment Following a recent spate of pirate attacks* off the Horn of Africa, reportedly Her Majesty's Royal Navy has been powerless to act following official concern over possible violations of the buccaneers' human rights - and worries that they might seek asylum in the UK after being captured.

The shipping paper Lloyds List first reported the supposed government handwringing in an analysis piece on the recent surge in piracy off the lawless Somali coast. Much of the world's trade passes close by Somalia, constrained by the Bab-el-Mandeb straits at the southern end of the Red Sea. The area has long been a hotspot of maritime crime, but in recent months activity has surged to unprecendented heights - with ships and entire crews being seized and held to ransom in the notorious pirate port of Eyl.
Other navies such as the French have recently mounted aggressive raids against the pirates, and even Russia has now ordered a naval taskforce to the region. But British warships patrolling the Red and Arabian seas have so far failed to get stuck in.

According to Lloyds List:
British Foreign Office officials are understood to have advised the Royal Navy not to confront or arrest pirates in the region for fear of transgressing human rights legislation or encouraging their seeking asylum once taken to the UK.

The possibility of piratical sea-scum being clapped in irons and returned to Blighty, there to roast swans in rent-free council flats rather than dancing a final hornpipe on the end of a rope at Execution Dock, has led to a predictable outburst of tubthumping.

The Navy has issued a boilerplate denial that it is soft on piracy, saying that "Royal Navy commanding officers take decisive action to aid ships under attack in international waters, including the use of force or detention if necessary"

Keep in mind when reading this, that the man being interviewed is no two-bit internet conspiracy buff. Stanley Hilton was a senior advisor to Sen Bob Dole (R) and has personally known Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz for decades. The following is from his visit to Alex Jones’ radio show. Note: All honor to Stanley Hilton for risking his life so that we may know the truth of 9/11.

David Davis: The Tory Backbencher Who Isn’t Sitting Back

The Conservatives were surging ahead in the opinion polls and he was virtually assured one of the highest offices of Government.
David Cameron was shocked when he resigned to draw attention to civil liberties, but Mr Davis insists he has no regrets.
Many in the Conservatives hoped that Mr Davis would become an influential figure on the backbenches who could speak up for the right-wing of the party on matters such as tax and education. He looks set not to disappoint.
Last week, in one of his first major interviews since being re-elected to Parliament, Mr Davis revealed that he has been hard at work over the summer considering some of the major issues threatening Britain and politicians.

Grandmother Is Killed By Police's 100mph Boy Racer - Delivering A Birthday Card To His Sister

A policeman has been suspended after knocking down and killing a grandmother during an appalling boy-racer trip to deliver a birthday card to his sister while he was on duty.
Sounding his siren and flashing his blue lights, the officer reached speeds of up to 100mph after being granted permission to leave his police station to hand over the card.
He then treated a relative to a high-speed 'black run' tour of the local area - again with blaring siren and emergency lights.
After dropping the relative back at their home, the officer sped back to his police station.
It was then, while doing nearly twice the speed limit with his blue lights flashing, that he ran over and killed married mother-of-three Sandy Simpson, 61.

Pelosi Sells Out To The Republicans Over Mortgage Help For Bankrupt Homeowners

House Democrats say the idea of letting judges rewrite mortgages to help bankrupt homeowners avoid foreclosure won't be a part of the $700 billion financial industry bailout.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told Democrats at a closed-door meeting Friday evening the provision would be a deal-breaker for Republicans who she has said must deliver substantial votes for the rescue plan. That's according to several lawmakers who attended the session.

Relativity Drive: The End Of Wings And Wheels?

The trip from London to Havant on the south coast of England is like travelling through time. I sit in an air-conditioned train, on tracks first laid 150 years ago, passing roads that were known to the Romans. At one point, I pick out a canal boat, queues of cars and the trail from a high-flying jet - the evolution of mechanised travel in a single glance.
But evolution has a habit of springing surprises. Waiting at my destination is a man who would put an end to mechanised travel. Roger Shawyer has developed an engine with no moving parts that he believes can replace rockets and make trains, planes and automobiles obsolete. "The end of wings and wheels" is how he puts it.

Throw Them All Out

Are You Tired of Being Ripped Off By Congress and the White House?

Is this Wall Street Bailout the Last Straw for You?

Well we have a chance to do something about it this November, on Election Day. The people of Pennsylvania showed us the way.
Last year, Pennsylvania residents learned that their legislature--Republicans and Democrats--had connived in the middle of the night to give themselves a raise in violation of the state constitution, which said raises could only be given to the next cycle of elected officials, not to those who were voting. They got around this by declaring the increases "undocumented expense reimbursements.
"The citizenry rose up and in a leaderless grassroots campaign, they swept out off office many long-time members of the legislature who had voted for the measure, as well as a judge who backed the action (the state's judges get whatever the legislators get)!If Pennsylvania voters can do this, so can the rest of America.

With All Eyes on the Bailout, House Passes Trillion-Dollar Defense Bill

On Wednesday, the House passed a mammoth defense bill by a 392-39 vote. It's expected to clear the Senate with little difficulty next week.
It was part of a trillion-dollar stop-gap measure to keep programs running through next March, allowing lawmakers to skip town without passing a final budget. The Associated Press reports, "The legislation came together in a remarkably secret process that concentrated decision-making power in the hands of a few lawmakers."
In keeping with the tradition of recent years, Bush held a gun to his own head and threatened to pull the trigger if his demands weren't met. According to the AP, "To earn President Bush's signature rather than a veto, House and Senate negotiators dropped several provisions he opposed. They include a ban on private interrogators in U.S. military detention facilities and what would have amounted to congressional veto power over a security pact with Iraq."

Somalis Subject To Chemical Attacks

Some 25 Somali mothers complain their children are turning blind and deaf because Ugandan and Burundian soldiers are using chemical weapons. Talking to the media, the women said that at least 10 children have lost their mental bearings and 30 others have become blind and deaf as the Ugandan and Burundian forces are using new types of chemical weapons when they attack and destroy their houses, Press TV correspondent reported late Friday from Mogadishu. They say that these soldiers are not peacekeepers but peace killers, our correspondent quoted them as saying. They also said that these so-called peacekeepers are worse than the Ethiopian troops. First the Ethiopian troops massacred the civilians and now the troops from Burundi and Uganda are doing the same, they said.

Britons Face Carbon Spotchecks

An Eco-Town Resident Fails To Reach The Perimiter

Britons should be subjected to random carbon spotchecks and intensive surveillance of their diets, transport and waste disposal habits, says the Government's architecture and design quango in a new report today.
The word "monitoring" occurs 19 times in the 32-page publication by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE). If the proposals in the report What Makes An Eco Town?are implemented few aspects of life will go unrecorded.
CABE says the strict monitoring is needed to ensure the carbon footprint of the eco-town dwellers remains at one-third of the British average, which is the requirement for what's called "one-planet living", the quango says.

Examples of monitoring include "the ecological footprint of the diet of 100 randomly selected residents", and the number of shops selling local produce. Waste disposal and transportion habits will also be scrutinized.

The Carbon Cult also wants to choose what you food you eat, and will carefully pre-select only the most righteous retailers. Veggies will be pleased to read that the report recommends "actively seeking retailers on site who will commit to supporting residents in reducing the ecological footprint of their food consumption, in particular providing a wide variety of healthy, low meat and dairy options."

One statistic that won't be recorded is the mortality rate from suicide caused by living in such a grimly regimented and obsessively monitored environment. Or maybe that's the plan. The Government proposes 15 such towns to be built for over 100,000 citizens.

As we have already reported, other eco-town restrictions include a 15mph speed limit for vehicles , and toilets that don't flush.

Residents would also be "fined" for leaving the eco-town.

You can download the report from here - and it's well worth a read. It has the zeal of a Maoist revolutionary order, as written by the most anally-retentive bureaucrat who ever lived.

“Even if the US’s massive financial rescue operation succeeds, it should be followed by something even more far-reaching – the establishment of a Global Monetary Authority to oversee markets that have become borderless.” writes Jeffrey Garten, also a former managing director of Lehman Brothers.

Tea and biscuits for everyone arriving in Britain

Every person flying into Britain will be offered a free cup of tea and a biscuit in an ambitious, if eccentric, plan to make the country more cheerful.

The hope is that tourists, and travellers returning from holidays, will be able to banish dark thoughts of a delayed flight, poor weather, and global financial meltdown if confronted with a free cup of English Breakfast tea and a plate of Jammie Dodgers.
The man behind the idea is Mark Price, the managing director of Waitrose, who is fondly referred to as the "chubby grocer" within the retail industry.
He has persuaded airports operator BAA to run a week-long trial in November at Terminal 5, offering 5,000 cups a day to travellers in the arrivals hall. Visit Britain – the tourism agency – has agreed to back his campaign, which could see all airports across the UK offering the traditional British mix of milky tea and quirky biscuits in time for the London 2012 Olympics.

'Ugly' scenes at scout jamboree as parents are charged £10 health and safety fee to pick up their children

A scout camp jamboree descended into 'ugly' scenes after hundreds of parents were ordered to pay £10 to pick their children up - because of a health and safety policy.
Furious parents ended up in a heated row with organisers of the Annual Devon Scout Camp over the fee, which was to cover costs for monitoring cars coming and going at the Woodlands Leisure Park.
They had dropped their children at the jamboree last Friday but were told they had to pay the £10 health and safety charge at the gates when they returned on Sunday to pick them up.

Winter Soldier

One of the problems Americans have is that most do not have a clue about American history, or the real history of any other place on Earth. That is a problem because if a people do not know their own history they are truly a lost culture, a lost society, a nation adrift without a clue who they are or where they are going.

I have said it many times: America is 300,000,000 million opinions and not a single cohesive plan in sight. I often think that America has the exact leadership it deserves. The electorate is just as guilty as the con artists in DC because Americans just keep electing and re-electing Mr. Shithead and Ms Shitforbrains over and over again. It is almost like Americans like to band together at the coffee roundtables and stitch-n-bitch sessions to discuss the folly of their decisions without admitting that they really screwed up big time.

Americans have an absolutely terminal disease of electing morons, liars and thieves...and then cannot understand what went wrong. Maybe they do understand their folly but are too proud to admit it.

Aspartame Consumption Again Linked to Degeneration of Brain Neurons

High intake of the artificial sweetener aspartame may lead to the degeneration of brain cells and various mental disorders, according to a research review conducted by South African scientists from the University of Pretoria and the University of Limpopo and published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition."We propose that excessive aspartame ingestion might be involved in the pathogenesis of certain mental disorders, and also in compromised learning and emotional functioning," the researchers concluded. The review of prior research found that aspartame, marketed as NutraSweet, Equal, Canderal and Tropicana Slim, leads to both direct and indirect changes in the brain when consumed in high quantities. Among these effects, the chemical can disrupt amino acid metabolism and structure, degrade nucleic acids, and interfere with the function of nerve cells and hormonal systems. It also appears to change the concentration of certain neurotransmitters in the brain.

IS THE BAILOUT A ROTHSCHILD TRICK?

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS MONEY that does not cost anything. Many are claiming that this is the cause of the current financial crisis. But this is just a cover for the real problem, or rather, a cover for the real culprits behind the crisis.
Money does cost something especially when it is created out of thin air by the Zionist Jews who own & run the Federal Reserve Bank. A simple book-entry is all that is needed when the Fed provides George Bush with an interest-bearing loan to pay for his wars. But it costs the tax payers’ hard earned dollars to pay off the debt PLUS the interest on the Fed’s created money.
The Rothschilds, who are Zionist Jews, are the principal owners of the Federal Reserve Bank. The Rothschild trick is that there is no real money in the system, no goods that they provide, only debts with compounded interest - chargeable to the ‘dumb goyim’ US taxpayers.

Poland to impose chemical castration on sex offenders after 'Polish Fritzl' incest case

Poland is to become the first country in the European Union to force convicted paedophiles to undergo chemical castration.
Judges will get the power to order the procedure under a law being rushed through the country's parliament next month in the wake of an incest case that has horrified the nation.
The 45-year-old man accused in that case has been dubbed the Polish Josef Fritzl - after the Austrian who locked up his daughter for 20 years and fathered a family with her.

The legislation will make chemical castration a ' necessary medical procedure' if a sex criminal is thought to pose a risk to others.
It will allow offenders to be held down while drugs that take away their sexual urges are administered.
European civil liberties groups have condemned the move, saying it violates fundamental human rights.
But Polish prime minister Donald Tusk soared in popularity in the opinion polls after he announced the proposal.
He said: 'I don't think you can call such individuals - such creatures - human beings.
'Therefore, I don't think you can talk about human rights in such a case.'

British identity cards will be covered in EU symbols

Britain's first identity card in more than half a century was unveiled yesterday - and turned out to be covered in EU symbols to satisfy Brussels.
The plastic card, which will be issued to foreign citizens in Britain starting in November, marks the first stage in the Government's ambitious scheme to issue biometric ID cards to all UK residents at a cost of billions of pounds.
But serious questions remain over whether the system will work or bring any practical benefits, and doubts were underlined yesterday as the Conservatives pledged to scrap the entire venture if they win the next General Election.
Foreigners issued with the cards will not have to show them to get a job or use services such as the NHS and schools, and it remains unclear if or when public services or private firms will install computerised scanners to make use of the costly biometric technology.
The card revealed by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith yesterday features a picture of a bull above EU- style golden stars, while the coloured background is made up of hundreds of tiny letters spelling 'EU'. The bull is a European Union symbol drawn from Greek mythology.
Last night the Home Office admitted that British ID cards had to follow a common design as set out in a Brussels directive to ensure that every card issued by EU states looks similar.
Each card, which will cost £30, carries unique biometric data in the form of a photograph and the individual's fingerprints stored digitally.

Palestine: From bad to wretched

The numbers are grim, whether in the West Bank or the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian economy is in one of its most wretched states, and the disaster is mostly, if not entirely, man-made, thus reversible. The World Bank made no secret of the fact that Israeli restrictions are largely to blame, as poverty rates in the Gaza Strip have soared to 79.4% and in the West Bank to 45.7%. It concluded that "with a growing population and a shrinking economy, real per capita GDP is now 30% below its height in 1999 ... With due regard to Israel's security concerns, there is consensus on the paralytic effect of the current physical obstacles placed on the Palestinian economy."With a declining economy, lack of developmental projects and Israeli restrictions, Palestinians are increasingly reliant on foreign aid, which is largely controlled by political interests. For example, the US proved more generous than ever in supporting the Ramallah-based government of Mahmoud Abbas as it led an international regime of sanctions and embargo against the Gaza-based Hamas government. Such funds are often conditioned on such murky concepts as "cracking down on the terrorist infrastructure", which is duly understood as fighting those who challenge Israel and Palestinian Authority rule in the West Bank.

CIA is Taking Over The Churches

Air Force plans to pull out big (uh, little) guns

It may look like a futuristic arcade game, but it's a scene from an official Air Force animated video: Bad guys of indiscernible origin being shadowed, from a careful distance, by small robotic drones designed to resemble birds and insects.

When one of the bad guys opens his apartment door, a tiny robo-bug, looking like a garage door opener with wings, sneaks in to spy. In another scene, a bug—the Air Force calls them Micro Air Vehicles, or MAVs—creeps into a sniper's roost and delivers a deadly shot to the back of his head.

It might sound far-fetched. But top Air Force officials believe that MAVs could be a significant part of the Defense Department's arsenal in the not-so-distant future.

Civilian researchers and airmen at the Air Force Research Laboratory, based at this installation just outside Dayton, have set a 2015 deadline to roll out the first generation of MAVs. This first group, they hope, will be the size of birds and able to operate several days without recharging.

Government Says Six Years Not Long Enough to Prepare Evidence

Imagine being seized in Afghanistan or Pakistan, where you were, perhaps, a completely innocent man, sold for a bounty, or a Muslim soldier, fighting other Muslims in a civil war whose roots lay in the resistance to the Soviet occupation of the 1980s, which was partly funded by the United States.
Then imagine that, both during and after being treated with appalling brutality by US forces, you are given no opportunity to establish whether you are an innocent man seized by mistake, a soldier, or the victim of bounty hunters, and you are, instead, flown halfway around the world to an experimental offshore prison, where you are interrogated about your connections to al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.
At no point are you offered the protection of the Geneva Conventions (to which your captors are a signatory), which were designed to prevent the "humiliating and degrading treatment" of prisoners seized during wartime, and also to prevent their interrogation (prisoners may be questioned, but any form of "physical or mental coercion" is prohibited). Moreover, if you struggle to answer the questions put to you -- perhaps because you know nothing about al-Qaeda or Osama bin Laden -- you are not only interrogated relentlessly, you are also subjected to an array of "enhanced interrogation techniques," which contravene the UN Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, to which your captors are also a signatory.

Now Europe Wants Us To Keep Headlights On ALL Day - Inflating Fuel Costs By Up To £160 A Year

Drivers face paying up to £160 a year more for fuel because of an EU directive forcing them to keep their headlamps on all day.
The European Commission wants all new passenger cars and vans to have lights that stay on while the engine is running.
It is estimated that this will increase fuel consumption by around 5 per cent.
The directive, which is being sent to the European Parliament for final approval, would come into force in February 2011.
Truck and bus manufacturers would have an extra 18 months to meet the new specifications.
Timothy Kirkhope, Tory transport spokesman in the European Parliament, said daylight running could make roads more dangerous.
'If all cars have lights on, there is a concern that drivers start looking out for lights, rather than pedestrians or cyclists,' he said.
'At a time when we are pushing for reductions in the use of fuel and resultant emissions, we must be certain we are not causing extra carbon emissions without an additional benefit.'
Britain has opposed the measure but is unable to block it because a majority of other EU nations were in favour and transport issues are not subject to veto.

The great nuclear sell-out: Our only atomic power giant falls into foreign hands - and you'll pay the price

Britain's only nuclear power company is being bought by the French in a £12.5billion deal likely to trigger a huge rise in electricity bills.
By buying British Energy, EDF - which is 80 per cent owned by the French government - will take control of the UK's eight nuclear power plants and build at least four super-size reactors.
The deal gives EDF enormous power in setting future prices because it will supply some 30 per cent of the country's electricity.
The purchase of British Energy means yet another large UK company will fall into foreign hands.
Four of Britain's 'big six' energy suppliers are controlled by hugely wealthy and powerful overseas utility giants.
There have been suggestions that they are quick to impose price rises on British consumers while protecting those in their home countries.

'A group of hard-line U.S. neo-conservatives and former Israeli diplomats, among others, are behind the mass distribution, ahead of the November U.S. presidential election, of a controversial DVD that critics have denounced as Islamophobic. The group, the Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET), is working with another organisation called the Clarion Fund, which produced the 60-minute video and is itself tied closely to an Israeli organisation called Aish Hatorah. The Fund is currently distributing some 28 million copies of the DVD through newspaper inserts in key electoral ''swing'' states -- states like Michigan, Ohio, and Florida that, according to recent polling, could go either way in November's presidential election. According to Delaware incorporation papers, the Clarion Fund is based at the same New York address as Aish Hatorah, a self-described "apolitical" group dedicated to educating Jews about their heritage. The Clarion Fund's street address as listed on the group's website and a DVD mailer for the film is apparently not a physical address, but rather a "virtual address" that goes to a post office box in New York City. Critics allege that the movie "Obsession" is "hate propaganda" which paints Muslims as violent extremists and, among other things, explicitly compares the threat posed by radical Islam to that of Nazi Germany in the 1930s.'

The Menace of Al Gore

Do not kid yourselves. There will be a time in this country when to deny the Al Gore version of global warming will be a crime akin to denying the Holocaust in Austria or Germany. People will be going to prison over this sooner than later. I would not be surprised to see the next Congress introduce a bill that will criminalize any disagreement with Gore.

Pakistan probes mystery of US Marines' steel boxes in Marriott

'Pakistani authorities are trying to "solve the riddle" of US Marines and their mysterious steel cases that were shifted to the Marriott Hotel four days before it was razed in the worst terrorist attack in the federal capital, a media report on Tuesday said.
"The authorities want to ascertain if it was a routine exercise or part of some special mission that does not have the approval of the government of Pakistan," The News said.'

You know, something like blowing up a hotel and the expected leader of Pakistan and blaming it on Iranian Terrorists....

Rep. La Bruzzo of Metairie has a rather chilling proposal: government-sponsored sterilization:

Worried that welfare costs are rising as the number of taxpayers declines, state Rep. John LaBruzzo, R-Metairie, said Tuesday he is studying a plan to pay poor women $1,000 to have their Fallopian tubes tied.

"We're on a train headed to the future and there's a bridge out," LaBruzzo said of what he suspects are dangerous demographic trends. "And nobody wants to talk about it."

LaBruzzo said he worries that people receiving government aid such as food stamps and publicly subsidized housing are reproducing at a faster rate than more affluent, better-educated people who presumably pay more tax revenue to the government. He said he is gathering statistics now.

Of course the majority of those that Labruzzo wants to see sterilized are poor and black. The natural reaction from some will be the usual comparisons of Republicans to Nazi Fascists. Nice try.

North Korea bars international inspectors from nuclear facility

North Korea has barred international inspectors from a nuclear reprocessing plant that produces weapons-grade plutonium and intends to restart activity there in a week, the International Atomic Energy Agency said Wednesday.
The decision by the North is a serious setback both for the Bush administration and an international agreement aimed at dismantling North Korea's nuclear weapons program. It seemed to be a provocative signal to the United States and the other governments involved in the diplomacy that the North would no longer honor a hard-won agreement to dismantle the site in exchange for diplomatic incentives and aid.

Housing For The Masses In A Post Bail Out World

It was a side trip through a destitute, ramshackle neighborhood in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, that detoured Brian McCarthy from building houses in Albuquerque to an idea to offer the very poor a chance to own a home.
His answer lies in a humble steel shipping container, 40 feet long, 8 feet wide, 8 1/2 feet tall.
McCarthy, 30, and three partners, Pablo Nava, 22; Kyle Annen, 23; and Mackenzie Bishop, 22, have made a prototype out of a standard shipping container that hauls goods worldwide - a 320-square-foot home with a kitchen, bath with toilet, sleeping areas, windows and a bright blue door. The exterior is painted with a white epoxy coating that has light-reflecting properties to prevent the sun's heat from penetrating.
Each small house includes hookups for air conditioning, ventilation, electrical and water systems - and the units ideally could be set up in small communities to make accessing utilities more efficient.

Flies given human genes

Genes from humans and jellyfish are being injected into flies to help find new treatments for diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia.
It is hoped the newly-developed technique will speed up the search for effective drugs to tackle conditions of the nervous system. Human genes related to the diseases are transferred into fruit flies, which are given various substances to find out if they have any effect. The jellyfish DNA is used to make part of the brain flash different colours: a blue light changes to green if the drug has an effect.

UK Lawmaker Seeks to Deny Education to Children Who Aren't Vaccinated

' British Labour MP Mary Creagh has proposed forbidding school enrollment to children who have not received the full course of childhood vaccines, turning the current recommendations compulsory.Writing in the magazine of the Fabian Society, Creagh said that the United Kingdom should use the same sanctions as the United States to make vaccines compulsory, and that schools should be required to verify that all children enrolled have been vaccinated. In the same issue, public health expert Sir Sandy Macara said that children should not be allowed to receive health benefits unless they are vaccinated.Vaccination rates have dropped in the United Kingdom recently, after research emerged suggesting that the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) might be linked to autism. While below the government's target level of 95 percent, 85 percent of children still receive the MMR vaccine. Both Creagh and Macara said that compulsory vaccination would serve the public good, pushing the United Kingdom toward the 95 percent vaccinated threshold at which incidence of a virus drops so low that the general population acquires a "herd immunity". '

The chair of the British Medical Association, Dr. Hamish Meldrum, blasted the plan as "morally and ethically dubious."

Hank Paulson urges Britain to set up bank bail-out fund

The British government is under increasing pressure to set up its own fund to bail-out banks holding mortgages on which homeowners are defaulting on their balance sheets.

US Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson has confirmed for the first time that he has talked with a number of central banks around the world on the subject in order to persuade other countries to follow America's proposed $700bn (£377bn) bail-out fund.
Mr Paulson and his officials are believed to have contacted the Bank of England and HM Treasury in this regard, but the British government so far seems reluctant to do so.
In his speech to the Labour conference, Prime Minister Gordon Brown said he would be discussing the ongoing financial crisis with world leaders during a trip to the United Nations General Assembly in New York later this week, but made no reference of any plans to help British banks.
A City analyst estimated a UK version of the US bail-out fund would need to be approximately £20bn in size to rescue 75pc of the UK's outstanding non-prime mortgages.
One of the reasons the British government may be reluctant to get involved is because foreign banks with large American operations – such as Barclays and the Royal Bank of Scotland – will be eligible for the scheme.

US Military Plans The Future As 'Perpetual Warfare'

AS GENERAL Ray Odierno takes command of US forces in Baghdad from troop surge architect Gen David Petraeus, America has begun planning in earnest for its phased withdrawal.
The extra brigade combat teams — or battlegroups — deployed to Iraq by Petraeus have already withdrawn and a further 8,000 troops have been diverted to Afghanistan.
In January, the next president of the United States will conclude America’s timetable for withdrawal in final negotiations with the Iraqi government.
Further evidence of America’s future military intentions is contained in recently published strategy documents issued by the US military.

White House Admits It Drew Up The Bail Out Plan Months Ago

No one could have seen this coming, right?

Well, actually, the White House has admitted that they drew up the bail out plan months ago:

[White House Deputy Press Secretary Tony] Fratto insisted that the plan was not slapped together and had been drawn up as a contingency over previous months and weeks by administration officials. He acknowledged lawmakers were getting only days to peruse it, but he said this should be enough

.But the government did nothing real to prevent the financial meltdown. Instead, it let the meltdown happen, and now is trying to ram through terrible and counter-productive legislation drafted previously by using fear tactics.

Does this sound familiar? It should.

Councils Ordered To Stop Snooping On Residents

Ministers from the Department of Communities and the Home Office have undertaken a thorough review of official surveillance powers, some of which are open to public bodies such local authorities, the NHS and even the Coastguard.
The review was triggered by ministers’ concerns that incidents where council staff were found putting microchips into residents’ dustbins and tailing parents to school had eroded public support for the entire enforcement system.
Two-thirds of councils have taken up the snooping powers open to them under the Regulation of Investigative Powers Act since its introduction in 2000.
Ministers believe that while surveillance including covert cameras is sometimes necessary to detect offences such as fraud, it must only be used as a last resort and in the most serious cases.
They plan to issue guidance and set strict new limits to ensure that in future the RIPA powers are not used to tackle minor infringements or the law or local regulations.
John Healey, Local Government Minster, said: “My main concern is to tighten up the operation of the system so it can command the public confidence that is needed.
“Councils do need these powers, but they need to use them only when it is necessary and proportionate, and only if the information can not be found another way. They should not be used lightly, because their use is a serious business.”
A number of councils have been accused of snooping since the introduction of Ripa, often for putting microchips in rubbish bins to discover if items had been thrown away which should have been put out to be recycled.

This Is Why Fake Nazis Are Dangerous

Bill White [above], America's best known fake Nazi recently published the above fake Nazi magazine with its obviously threatening cover. White's magazine is a professional job, the absolute best quality photographs, paper, etc... Very, very expensive to produce, how does he pay for it with less than six members nationwide? In THIS POST Bill White acknowleges that the magazine was paid for with a single donation of $7,800.00, which is probably $7,700.00 more than I've ever received in a donation and I'm a helluva lot more productive than Bill White. I've written more than 500 articles, Bill White hasn't written more than a couple dozen, but then again, it isn't his writing he's known for, it's his provocative actions. Bill White neglects to mention who it was that provided this incredible sum of money. Perhaps a Solomon Goldfarb from New York City?
Bill White seeks to create a situation that the Congress, court system, and Zio-American entity need in order to force through legislation designed to do one thing, shut down dissent. ZOG needs to do something and quickly, the economy is reeling and International Jewry expects a backlash, thus they need to figure out a way to introduce and pass legislation that will shut up bloggers like me.

Ruth Kelly To Spend More Time With Spikey Chain Thing

OPUS Dei transport secretary Ruth Kelly is to resign from the cabinet to spend more time with that spikey chain thing they strap round the top of their thighs.
Kelly dismissed suggestions she was trying to destabilise the prime minister, insisting Jesus had ordered her to strap it on as often and as tightly as possible.
She said last night: "It's very difficult to concentrate on the restructuring of Network Rail when the love of Jesus is really digging into your thigh.
"There have been times during cabinet when the prime minister asked if I was alright and I just bit my lip and let out a tiny little squeak.
"But once you've experienced the eye-watering ecstasy of Jesus-based thigh gouging you just want it all the time.
"Sociologist Dr Wayne Hayes said: "Being a member of Opus Dei is demanding. You're either thwarting art historians and topping nuns or generally buggering about in the Louvre.
"There's also the spikey chain thing, the self-flagellation and the branding of each other's buttocks with a red hot poker."
He added: "And of course there's the constant, demented opposition to medical research that could lead to cures for cancer, MS and Parkinson's Disease. It's a busy day."

Has Sarah Palin Been Picked as the Titular Head of the Coming Police State?

Please understand what you are looking at when you look at Sarah "Evita" Palin. You are looking at the designated muse of the coming American police state.
You have to understand how things work in a closing society in order to understand "Palin Power." A gang or cabal seizes power, usually with an affable, weak figurehead at the fore. Then they will hold elections -- but they will make sure that the election will be corrupted and that the next affable, weak figurehead is entirely in their control. Remember, Russia has Presidents; Russia holds elections. Dictators and gangs of thugs all over the world hold elections. It means nothing. When a cabal has seized power you can have elections and even presidents, but you don't have freedom.
I realized early on with horror what I was seeing in Governor Palin: the continuation of the Rove-Cheney cabal, but this time without restraints. I heard her echo Bush 2000 soundbites ("the heart of America is on display") and realized Bush's speechwriters were writing her -- not McCain's -- speeches. I heard her tell George Bush's lies -- not McCain's -- to the American people, linking 9/11 to Iraq. I heard her make fun of Barack Obama for wanting to prevent the torture of prisoners -- this is Rove-Cheney's enthusiastic S and M, not McCain's, who, though he shamefully colluded in the 2006 Military Tribunals Act, is also a former prisoner of war and wrote an eloquent Newsweek piece in 2005 opposing torture. I saw that she was even styled by the same skillful stylist (neutral lipstick, matte makeup, dark colors) who turned Katharine Harris from a mall rat into a stateswoman and who styles all the women in the Bush orbit -- but who does not bother to style Cindy McCain.
Then I saw and heard more. Palin is embracing lawlessness in defying Alaskan Legislature subpoenas -- this is what Rove-Cheney, and not McCain, believe in doing. She uses mafia tactics against critics, like the police commissioner who was railroaded for opposing handguns in Alaskan battered women's shelters -- Rove's style, not McCain's. I realized what I was seeing.

Fears grow in Lebanon as 10,000 Syrian troops arrive on the border

Syria has massed thousands of troops along its border with northern Lebanon in what officials in Beirut fear is a prelude to the first incursion since Syrian forces pulled out three years ago.
Although Damascus insists that its forces are conducting an antismuggling operation, the Lebanese Government is eyeing the moves with unease, believing that the unusual scale of the deployment has more to do with tensions between the two countries over recent sectarian clashes in northern Lebanon.
“People around here are worried. We don’t know why the Syrians have arrived like this,” said Ali, 18, a farmer in the tiny hillside hamlet of Hekr Janin overlooking the border.

Large Hadron Collider must hibernate after wrong sort of big bang

Two weeks ago the world’s physicists were all smiles. The most powerful atom smasher to be built had been switched on to global acclaim and scientists were ready to begin experiments that could unlock many of the enduring mysteries of the Universe.
They are going to have to wait a little longer. On Friday the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) created the wrong sort of big bang — a fault so serious that CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, announced last night that the particle accelerator would have to be shut down until next spring for repairs.
Preliminary investigations into the incident, in which a huge quantity of helium leaked from the LHC’s cooling system, have suggested that it was caused by a faulty electrical connection between two of its superconducting magnets. The fault affected a part of the accelerator that is kept chilled to within 1.9C of absolute zero \, and it will have to be warmed up to room temperature before the problem can be understood fully and resolved.

Doctors told to curb use of Ritalin in hyperactive children

Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) should be treated with drugs such as Ritalin only in severe cases and never when they are younger than 5, under official health guidelines issued today.
Widespread concerns that medication is used too freely to calm hyperactive children have been recognised by two clinical practice watchdogs, which are now advising doctors not to prescribe drugs whenever possible.
Most children with ADHD should instead be offered psychological therapy to improve their behaviour, backed up by training to support their parents and teachers, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (NCCMH) recommend

Lifestyle lessons could replace traditional subjects in teaching shake-up

Lessons in healthy lifestyles and sex education could replace traditionalacademic subjects in a shake-up of primary school teaching planned by Ed Balls.
Pupils could even be assessed on their ‘personal development’ as well as the three Rs.
The Schools Secretary has ordered an inquiry into primary school lessons to consider whether pupils are currently studying too many subjects.
Now the team behind the review has said heads and teachers agree there should be reductions both in the ‘number of subject areas’ and the subject content pupils cover.
Instead they want pupils to study ‘concepts and skills’ that cut across traditional curriculum areas and a stronger focus on personal development, including healthy eating, ‘self-esteem’, sex and relationships, drugs and philosophy.

Homeschooling Banned in California as State Turns Parents Into Criminals for Teaching Their Own Children

A California appeals court has ruled that homeschooling of children is illegal unless their parents have teaching credentials from the state.

"California is now on the path to being the only state to deny the vast majority of homeschooling parents their fundamental right to teach their own children at home," said Michael Smith, president of the Home School Legal Defense Association.

The court overturned a lower court's finding that homeschooling did not constitute a violation of child welfare laws.

"California courts have held that ... parents do not have a constitutional right to homeschool their children," Justice H. Walter Croskey said.

Indian govt backs workers who killed boss: police, reports

Sacked workers in India beat to death the boss of the Italian company that had laid them off, police said on Tuesday, in a killing the government described as a "warning for management."
Scores of former employees at car parts maker Graziano Transmissioni attacked chief executive Lalit Kishore Chaudhary, 47, when a meeting on Monday to discuss a long-running labour dispute turned violent, police said.
"Twenty-three people are still in hospital," superintendent of police Babu Ram told AFP.
Police said the company sacked more than 100 workers three months ago but arranged the meeting to work out a possible reinstatement deal.
"Only a few people were called inside. About 150 people were waiting outside when they heard someone from inside shout for help. They rushed in and the two sides clashed," Ram said.

IRAQ: Awash in "Missing" Weapons

SAN FRANCISCO, Sep 22 (IPS) - Clandestine gun suppliers, funded by the U.S. and Iraqi governments, have flooded Iraq with a million weapons since 2003, charges a new Amnesty International investigation.Because of faulty or non-existent government tracking systems, many of those guns have gone missing, and some have turned up in the hands of insurgents. Contracts with one of these companies, Taos Industries, account for almost half of the 217 million dollars Baghdad and Washington have officially spent to arm the Iraqi army, police and security forces employed by various Iraqi ministries. Amnesty's new report "Blood at the Crossroads: Making the Case for a Global Arms Trade Treaty" shines a light on the catastrophic human rights consequences of the kind of unrestrained arms trading that forms much of Taos's business. The report draws lessons from countries to make recommendations on how to prevent human rights abuses when governments sell or transfer conventional arms to other countries. Research for the report was conducted by TransArms, a U.S.-based nonprofit that tracks global arms transfers.

Bush Prepares Another September 11 Terror Act To Transform America Into Dictatorship

A former Reagan official has issued a public warning that the Bush administration is preparing to orchestrate a staged terrorist attack in the United States, transform the country into a dictatorship and launch a war with Iran within a year.

Paul Craig Roberts, a former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, blasted Thursday a new Executive Order, released July 17, allowing the White House to seize the assets of anyone who interferes with its Iraq policies and giving the government expanded police powers to exercise control in the country.
Roberts, who spoke on the Thom Hartmann radio program, said: "When Bush exercises this authority [under the new Executive Order], there's no check to it. So it really is a form of total, absolute, one-man rule."
"The American people don't really understand the danger that they face," Roberts said, adding that the so-called neoconservatives intended to use a renewal of the fight against terrorism to rally the American people around the fading Republican Party.

Heavy Snow Fall In South Africa Blamed On Global Warming

Unexpected snowfall and freezing temperatures in the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa has been described by so called climate experts as a feature of global warming.
The country experienced its coldest night on record two nights ago — in the spring time.
The adverse weather has shocked and surprised many locals, with forecasters warning that worse conditions could follow.
The snow is part of a continuing pattern of cold snaps across the continent that has also seen unprecedented ice storms in Kenya, resulting in 4 inch deep hail covering the ground.

Toxic Rocket Fuel Chemical In Drinking Water Can Stay Says Government

The Environmental Protection Agency says there is no need to act on the fact that a toxic rocket fuel ingredient, which has been proven to lead to a loss of IQ and an increase in behavioral and perception problems, has long been present in drinking water across the U.S.
In a remarkable reversal of it’s position, the EPA, has ditched six years of effort into persuading the government that perchlorate contamination poses a serious risk to the public and should be regulated.
Perchlorate, has been found in at least 395 sites in 35 states at levels high enough to interfere with thyroid function and pose developmental health risks, particularly for babies and fetuses, reports AP. The toxic chemical has also been found in lettuce and other foods.
It is used by defense and aerospace contractors in conjunction with the Pentagon in rockets and missiles.

US Army Invests in 'Thought Helmet' Technology for Voiceless Communication

The US Army has recently awarded a five-year $4 million contract to researchers from the University of California at Irvine (led by UCI´s Mike D´Zmura), Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Maryland to study the concept. It will likely be a decade or two before the thought helmet becomes a reality, but the rough technology is already under investigation. Researchers have been working on other brain-computer interfaces, such as Emotiv Systems´ brain-wave headset for video games, which is expected to be available commercially next summer.
The Army's version would of course be more sophisticated and reliable than the gaming headset. To make the thought helmet a feasible piece of equipment for soldiers, scientists need to combine advances in computing power together with our understanding of the human brain.

Gates says the U.S. is willing to send troops into Pakistan

U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said Thursday that the United States is "ready, able and willing" to send troops to Pakistan if the government of the South Asian nation is interested.
.S. military officials have told CNN that commanders are reviewing a classified planning order that could result in troops going to Pakistan for training purposes if Pakistan's government approves.
The announcement comes as Pakistan's government faces what Gates called increased efforts by al Qaeda.
Musharraf and other Pakistani leaders, however, have repeatedly said it is their military -- not that of the United States -- that will fight elements of al Qaeda and the Taliban that are believed to live and train in the mountainous region of Pakistan that borders Afghanistan.
"It's obviously been a subject of ongoing dialogue," Gates said. "Pakistan is a sovereign country; they clearly have the right to decide whether or not forces from another country are going to operate on their soil.

John le Carré: Britons have been 'stripped' of civil liberties

Britons have been "stripped" of their civil liberties amid an "atmosphere of panic" over the threat from terrorism, according to the novelist John le Carré.

In a rare public intervention, the spy author criticised ministers for voting to extend the time limit that terror suspects can be held without charge to 42 days.
His comments come only weeks ahead of a key vote in the House of Lords that could see peers throw out the Government's controversial 42-day proposals.
The writer, who admitted he has a reputation as "an angry old man", said he was furious that the Government had been allowed to get away with a sustained attack on civil liberties.
"Partly, I'm angry that there is so little anger around me at what is being done to our society, supposedly in order to protect it," said the 76-year-old in an interview in Waterstone's magazine.
"We have been taken to war under false pretences, and stripped of our civil rights in an atmosphere of panic. Our lawyers don't take to the streets as they have done in Pakistan.

Treason Will Be reported Today At Police Stations Throughout The UK

Treason will be reported today at police stations throughout the country.

As a direct result of the European Communities Act pushed through by the Heath government, the vast majority of our laws are no longer made by directly accountable representatives, and Parliament is unable to make its decisions in the light of what is best for this nation. Papers released under the Thirty Years Rule make it clear that the politicians who took us into the “Common Market” were aware that this must be the eventual price of membership, yet did everything in their power, using both subterfuge and large amounts of taxpayers’ money, to keep the electorate in the dark.

The evidence made available in these papers will be presented at Whitley Bay Police Station at 10.30 this morning, Tuesday, 23 September, by a group representing the growing number of UK citizens in the North-East who believe that those responsible for our present loss of independence should answer for their crimes against the nation.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Gillian Swanson said, “This evidence proves that the Heath government conspired with deliberate intent not only to subvert our constitution (the crime at common law of sedition) but to hand this country over to a foreign power (the crime at common law of treason).

“Because of their betrayal, we are now seeing the introduction of an alien constitution, disguised as a treaty; and our traditional freedoms and protections against tyranny are being wiped out, as English common law is brought into line with practices in other member states, or simply over-ruled by EU legislation.

“People are finally waking up to the enormity of the crimes committed by our “representatives”, past and present, and action is being taken by concerned citizens throughout the UK. Treason has already been reported at 23 police stations over recent months; and it will continue to be reported until justice is done.”

West Bank Settler Riot: What the Media Left out

On September 13, in response to a 9-year-old Israeli settler child living in the 'wildcat' outpost of Shalhevet, about half a kilometre from the illegal Israeli colony of Yitzhar, being stabbed by a lone Palestinian, hundreds of illegal settlers rioted en-mass and terrorised several thousand villagers in the Palestinian township of Asira al Qibliya. In the course of the riot at least 8 Palestinians were seriously injured, six by live ammunition fired by the illegal settlers, who also vandalised residential homes and beat unarmed children and adults, while members of the fourth strongest army on earth stood by and let the settlers riot [1].
While much has been made by the illegal settlers and some of the Israeli and international press of the stabbing and "terrorist" attack on Yitzhar, little was said – if anything at all – about the fact that for the past decade the heavily armed settlers of Yitzhar and other nearby illegal Israeli settlements have been violently terrorising the unarmed Palestinian villages around them. Neither was it mentioned that in the last twelve months, such unprovoked attacks by the Yitzhar settlers have increased substantially. Nor was it mentioned that there had also been an increase in similar attacks by other illegal settlers against Palestinian villages in the Qaliqilya and Hebron region of the Occupied Paletinian Territories (OPT).

BATTLE PLAN FOR THE 50 STATES

"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite." – James Madison, "Federalist No. 45," Jan. 26, 1788
Last week, with the blessing of Bush and most of the U.S. Congress, the robber banker barons threw gasoline onto a bonfire. The financial Mt. Vesuvius hasn't blown yet, but it will, and what was done last week and most likely through today, will be horrific. America has crossed the Rubicon.
Rage continues to build across this country with good reason. It was building back in October, 2003, when I wrote my column, It's All Over Grab the Muskets. Change comes one city, one town, one county at a time. If you don't try, the bad guys win by default.
