'Bush Asked Blair to Extend Term'


Tony Blair tried to extend his term as prime minister after George W. Bush voiced “grave doubts” about Gordon Brown, White House sources have revealed.

The Sunday Telegraph reported that Blair had been asked by White House officials to prevent Brown from coming into office, after a meeting between Brown and then US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice whereby Brown apparently “harangued” her over policy issues.

Blair was told that Bush would have “big problems” working with Brown, and was thereby signaled to stay on as prime minister until 2008, when Bush would step down from power.'
