'Congress won't rubber stamp bailout'

US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says Congress won't rubber stamp a $700b bailout proposal because of pressure from the administration.

"We are prepared to do what is necessary to avoid - but we will not let haste abandon good judgment in the process," Reid said in a statement on Monday.

"The Bush administration has called on Congress to rubber stamp its bailout legislation without serious debate or efforts to improve it. That will not happen," he added.
