After fighting tooth and nail to block their publication, the Government has finally been forced to cough up the so-called Gateway reviews of its decision to proceed with ID cards.
Followers of this saga will know that the Information Commissioner had told the Government to publish the confidential documents and this decision had been upheld on appeal. But Ministers fought to the bitter end against the request under the Freedom of Information Act.
The reviews show that all the big arguments deployed for ID cards - they will stop terrorists, curb crime, limit immigration etc - were just so much eyewash.

A Canadian spokesman confirmed that the Respect MP had been deemed inadmissible on national security grounds and would not be allowed into the country.

Israeli Army T-Shirts Mock Gaza Killings
The revelations centre on t-shirt designs made for soldiers that make light of shooting pregnant Palestinian mothers and children and include images of dead babies and destroyed mosques.The t-shirts were printed for Israeli soldiers at the end of periods of deployment or training courses and were discovered by Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
One, printed for a platoon of Israeli snipers depicts an armed Palestinian pregnant women caught in the crosshairs of a rifle, with the disturbing caption in English: "1 shot 2 kills".
Another depicts a child carrying a gun also in the centre of a target.

The Department of Homeland Security and police forces label anyone who they disagree with - or who disagrees with their policies - as "terrorists".
Don't believe me?
Well, according to a law school professor, pursuant to the Military Commissions Act, "Anyone who ... speaks out against the government's policies could be declared an 'unlawful enemy combatant' and imprisoned indefinitely. That includes American citizens."
And according to an FBI memo, peace protesters are being labeled as "terrorists". Indeed, police have been terrorizing children, little old ladies and other "dangerous" people who attempted to peacefully.
And a 2003 FBI memo describes protesters' use of videotaping as an "intimidation" technique, even though - as the ACLU points out - "Most mainstream demonstrators often use videotape during protests to document law enforcement activity and, more importantly, deter police from acting outside the law." The FBI appears to be objecting to the use of cameras to document unlawful behavior by law enforcement itself.
And the Internet has been labeled as a breeding ground for terrorists, with anyone who questions the government's versions of history being especially equated with terrorists.
Now, the state of Missouri has labeled as terrorists current Congressman Ron Paul and his supporters, former Congressman Bob Barr, libertarians in general, anyone who holds gold, and a host of other people.
In other words, anyone who disagrees with the "acceptable" way of looking at things is a terrorist.

A Polish delicatessen is refusing to serve English customers, it was claimed yesterday.
The store is said to have turned away a college student and a reporter sent to investigate the story.
Police and council officials have launched an investigation into the alleged racism.
The student, Kaley Leighton, stopped at the store on her way home from sixth-form college in Goole, East Yorkshire.

Chip and PIN Was Meant to Beat Credit Card Fraud. Guess What? It's up 50%
Card fraud has leapt almost 50 per cent since the introduction of the chip and PIN system that was supposed to cut the problem.
The total hit a record high of £609.9million in 2008, which was 14 per cent up on the previous year.
More disturbingly, the figure has jumped by £182.8million - 43 per cent - since the chip and PIN system became universal on Valentine's Day in 2006.
The surge in card fraud comes as the big banks are taking a tough line with victims and increasingly refusing to pay refunds.
At the same time the Home Office has decided that it is no longer the job of the police to record and investigate card fraud. Now police forces across the country are directing victims to their banks, rather than mounting investigations.

Many competent international authorities have concluded that the available evidence establishes that Bush and the Bush administration committed torture and other war crimes and crimes against humanity. Therefore Canada now has a duty to condemn, investigate, prosecute and punish those crimes.

At this particular juncture, there is no economic recovery program in sight. The Washington-Wall Street consensus prevails. There are no policies, no alternatives formulated from within the political and economic system. .
What is the way out? How will the US government face an impending social catastrophe?
The solution is to curb social unrest. The chosen avenue, inherited from the outgoing Bush administration is the reinforcement of the Homeland Security apparatus and the militarization of civilian State institutions.

The Army has let slip one of the worst-kept secrets in the world -- that Israel has the bomb.
Officially, the United States has a policy of "ambiguity" regarding Israel's nuclear capability. Essentially, it has played a game by which it neither acknowledges nor denies that Israel is a nuclear power.
But a Defense Department study completed last year offers what may be the first time in a unclassified report that Israel is a nuclear power. On page 37 of the U.S. Joint Forces Command report, the Army includes Israel within "a growing arc of nuclear powers running from Israel in the west through an emerging Iran to Pakistan, India, and on to China, North Korea, and Russia in the east."
By law, the U.S. would have to cease providing billions of dollars in foreign aid to Israel if it determined the country had a nuclear weapons program. That's because the so-called Symington Amendment, passed in 1976, bars assistance to countries developing technology for nuclear weapons proliferation.

As Israelis continue to express willingness to militarily take out Iran's nuclear infrastructure, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has conducted a study on Israeli options for such military plans.

Police swooped on the grammar school pupil's flat after a tip-off that he had boasted of 'taking out the trash' at his school.
When armed officers burst into the home in Schwelm, western Germany, they found automatic weapons, handguns and chemicals ready to be mixed to make bombs."

Take a very close look at what is on the table: At the bottom of the picture you see a very plastic machine gun with a snapped off plastic muzzle that comes from a fake gun lying higher up the table.
The MP-40 machine gun in the centre is a plastic fake, you can even see the screw holes in the sifde of the gun to keep the plastic parts together.
Above the mp-40 is the fake machine gun that has had both its muzzle and stock snapped off.

The prayer gathering came as a result of Thursday’s panic when about 90 pupils from the school had to be rushed to the Ladysmith Provincial Hospital after some began experiencing dizzy spells, fainting, breathing difficulties, convulsions and foaming at the mouth.
Local religious leaders were on the scene yesterday to cast out what they say were demons after some of the pupils claimed they saw huge serpents.

More than three-quarters of Britons believe jobless immigrants should be asked to leave the UK, according to a new poll.
The finding will raise fears that the far-Right BNP could prosper in the recession as unemployment rises.

A primary school has been accused of running a 'mealtime Gestapo' after insisting on inspecting children's lunchboxes for unhealthy food.
If pupils are found to have sweets, chocolate, fizzy drinks or full-fat crisps, teachers confiscate them and hold them in the staffroom.
The snacks are returned at the end of the day but only if parents ask.
One parent, Magdi Cullen, said she was shocked when her nine-year-old daughter Maria told her about the policy at Danegrove Primary School in Barnet, North London.
Mrs Cullen, 34, of Cockfosters, said: 'When I found out about what they were doing, I thought, "This is a primary school, not Guantanamo Bay".

The Conservatives said the sum could have been spent on building a brand new 500-cell prison and operating it for two years.
At an average cost of £843 per prisoner per night it would have been cheaper to house inmates in a "superior suite" at the Ritz hotel, they added.
Under the scheme, police forces were paid to accommodate inmates who should have been in jails which were too crowded to accept any more offenders.
Police cells were used on 89,000 occasions. The cost varied between police forces, ranging up to £1,686 a night - more expensive than a "deluxe king suite" at the world's only seven star hotel, the Jumeirah Burj al Arab, Dubai, the Tories pointed out

The Second issue of the Dot Connector magazine is out! As the first, it is FREE and can be downloaded HERE.
It is also the last issue in downloadable PDF format. Yes, starting from the next issue #3, the Dot Connector magazine becomes "printed press" with international distribution by subscription!
This was our intitial plan, and this is what nine of every ten readers of our premier issue asked us about in their e-mails.
