The Sky-High Flight Tax: Families Face Rises of up to 55% in Levy on Holidays From UK Airports

The increases in Air Passenger Duty (APD) for all flights out of UK airports, which come into force next week, will push up the tax on a family of four’s trip to the Far East or Australia by £240 to £680. Those in economy face an increase of £120 to £340.

APD was initially introduced as a ‘green tax’ on the basis it would discourage people from flying and cut carbon emissions.

However, it has become a cash cow for the last government and the Coalition, with annual revenue set to rise from £2.3billion to £3.8billion by 2015.'

The functional equivalent of a community currency system can be achieved using the national currency, by forming a publicly owned bank. Profits generated by the community can be returned to the community.'

Halliburton Admits Cement Test Failure on Deepwater Horizon

'The Texas-based Halliburton Company has confessed to pouring a cement mix down BP's Gulf of Mexico oil well without testing the stability of its exact composition.

The company, which was BP's cementing contractor, came under increased scrutiny when investigators from the US president's oil spill commission revealed on Thursday that tests performed by the company before the deadly blowout showed the cement to be unstable.

Halliburton's confession comes as it has also admitted to having sufficient evidence that not all mixes were stabilizing well.

The cement mix's failure to prevent oil and gas from entering the well has been identified by BP and others as one of the causes of the largest offshore oil spill in US history.'

UNESCO: West Bank Shrines are Palestinian

UNESCO has angered Israel by naming the historic sites in the occupied West Bank and al-Quds (Jerusalem) -- sacred to both Muslims and Jews -- Palestinian.

The board of the UN's cultural organization, in its biannual session which ended last week, adopted five proposals initiated by Muslim member states regarding sites which are considered holy to both Jews and Muslims.

Israel, early this year, annexed two West Bank holy sites - the Ibrahimi Mosque (Cave of the Patriarchs) and the Bilal Mosque (Rachel's Tomb) to their heritage list.

Council Tax and Lawful Rebellion

For those who wonder what they can do as individuals to resist encroachment on their common law rights, withholding Council Tax (CT) is a lawful option. It is also, as I will show below, a legal obligation. I would not wish to encourage anyone to cause problems for the state without justification. The Powers That Be, for reasons which we can only speculate about, repealed the statutory offence of sedition early in 2010 so perhaps I can speak freely.

A bit of background first. For those of us who are old enough to remember Mrs Thatcher (who was Prime Minister in the late 1980’s) will know that she had a bit of a problem with a Poll Tax which was levied on all adults to fund local authorities. This did not go down well and resulted in one of the biggest incidents of disorder in central London for many years. It was not officially a riot. The Metropolitan Police never admit that a riot has occurred because they will be financially liable, by the way.

Why withhold Council Tax? Because it is one of the few taxes which an individual is required to pay in person and is not deducted by his, or her, employer. It is a Poll Tax because it applies to everyone’s residence, even if they do not own it.

What will happen if you refuse to pay? If the outstanding sum is less that £750, not very much. After two or three months your local Council will withdraw the option of paying in instalments. After another two or three months they will threaten to take you to Magistrates Court to obtain a “liability order” which will add £90.00, (£50.00 for the issue of the summons, and £40.00 for the issue of the liability order) and give the Council the power to take money directly from your earnings, Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance. That will take at least a month.

More serious methods of obtaining the money, such as threatening bankruptcy, are not available to them if the outstanding sum is less that £750.

Let’s do the sums. I understand that the average Council Tax bill is £1200 over 10 months. That is £100 per month. A person could withhold payments from the 5th month into the financial year and then pay up at month 10 before any sanctions are applied except the £90 costs. If a few people do that, the tyranny will not be inconvenienced. If a million people do it will be.

For the more adventurous members of the resistance, there may be ways to starve the beast of tyranny of its taxes altogether. They are the Freeman concept, Chapter 61 of Magna Carta and duress of circumstances.'

UK Government Offers Councils Bribes to Pass Wind Farm Applications

Local councils are to get extra funding if they give the go-ahead to new wind farms, under plans to stop local communities sabotaging renewable energy projects.

Ministers are worried at the vast number of wind farm projects that are being turned down by councillors in the face of local opposition. The Independent revealed yesterday that the number of planning approvals for onshore wind farms is at an all time low, with only one in three applications getting to go-ahead.

Michael Hird, from the Campaign Against Wind farms, said it the payment amounted to “a bribe”.

“This is nothing short of a bribe to get local councils to agree to wind farms. They should be spending money on good green energy and not this".'

Human Rights Watch: Obama Directive 'Essentially Nullifies' Child Soldiers Law

Foreign Policy’s intrepid reporter Josh Rogin first posted last night on a White House memo in which President Obama exempted four governments from the Child Soldiers Prevention Act, a 2008 bill that bars US military cooperation with countries that recruit child soldiers. The short presidential directive reads:

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, pursuant to section 404(c) of the Child Soldiers Prevention Act of 2008 (CSPA), title IV of the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 (Public Law 110 457), I hereby determine that it is in the national interest of the United States to waive the application to Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, and Yemen of the prohibition in section 404(a) of the CSPA.

I just spoke with Jo Becker of Human Rights Watch who told me this “essentially nullifies the law.” The Child Soldiers Prevention Acts, says Becker, mandates that the State Department list governments that recruit child soldiers. In June 2010, six countries were listed: Chad, DRC, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Burma. By issuing such a sweeping waiver, Becker says the administration has effectively undermined the law. ”It gives us no leverage to deal with the recruitment of child soldiers in these countries,” she says.'

Assisted Suicide: A Wealthy Elite Will Push Vulnerable People to Premature Death

If we were to overturn the present law banning assisted suicide, 1,000 Britons would die in this way every year. Living and Dying Well, the new think tank that has made this calculation, is right to raise the alarm. But my concern is not the numbers who would turn to assisted suicide; rather, I am worried about who these potential suicides are.

Prompted by a harrowing experience with my father, who asked me to help him die when he lay suffering in a hospital ward, I’ve spent the past year researching a pamphlet on this issue. I became more and more convinced, as I spoke to doctors, nurses, and lawyers, that the push for assisted suicide came from a strident elite. This group, articulate, well-off (or at least well-educated) and very much part of the system, knows exactly how to protect their interests. No one can push them around — certainly no one can push them into dying prematurely.'

Monsanto's Many Attempts to Destroy All Seeds but Their Own

7/7: Practice Makes Perfect

Most of us who have been paying attention have known for some time that there were two ‘drill’- type events associated with the 7/7 London bombings.

The first was the Panorama programme of May 2004 during which one overground and 3 underground explosions take place over a short space of time during the morning rush hour.

The second was the famous ‘drill’ revealed by Peter Power on the day of 7/7 itself when he said that drills were taking place in the same 3 stations and at the same time as the bombs actually went off.

For many, including this author, these were coincidences beyond all reason.

However, astonishingly, it has been revealed to the 7/7 Inquest, in minor documents presented to the court last week, that there were at least two other separate drills in London prior to 7/7 that used as their template the same 3 underground bombs scenario.

We now have a group of public services practicing FOUR TIMES for the exact circumstances that prevailed on the terrible morning itself.

Does it not eventually become reasonable to suppose that those that organised ALL THESE VERY SIMILAR DRILLS also organised THE IDENTICAL EVENT ITSELF?'

Placebo Fraud Rocks the Very Foundation of Modern Medical Science; Thousands of Clinical Trials Invalidated

You know all those thousands of clinical trials conducted over the last few decades comparing pharmaceuticals to placebo pills? Well, it turns out all those studies must now be completely thrown out as utterly non-scientific. And why? Because the placebos used in the studies weren't really placebos at all, rendering the studies scientifically invalid.

This is the conclusion from researchers at the University of California who published their findings in the October issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine. They reviewed 167 placebo-controlled trials published in peer-reviewed medical journals in 2008 and 2009 and found that 92 percent of those trials never even described the ingredients of their placebo pills.

Why is this important? Because placebo pills are supposed to be inert. But nothing is inert, it turns out. Even so-called "sugar pills" contain sugar, obviously. And sugar isn't inert. If you're running a clinical trial on diabetics, testing the effectiveness of a diabetes drug versus a placebo then obviously your clinical trial is going to make the diabetes drug look better than placebo if you use sugar pills as your placebo.'

Towards Martial Law in America: Authority to Deploy Troops Domestically during 'National Emergencies'

In 49 B.C., Julius Caesar led the Roman Legion across the Rubicon and into Rome itself, defying the Roman Senate and soon thereafter declaring himself Emperor for life. This was the beginning of the changeover from the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire and the phrase "Crossing the Rubicon" is now used to refer to a move by government toward military dictatorship and the suspension of civil liberties.

Unbeknownst to most Americans, the United States Coast Guard has been attempting to 'cross the Rubicon' for decades, and actually achieved that goal in a silent coup in 2003 when it was moved from the Department of Transportation into the newly-created Department of Homeland Security. This change was not merely bureaucratic; it allows the Coast Guard to now openly declare itself "one of the five armed forces of the United States and the only military organization within the Department of Homeland Security." The problem is that the Coast Guard is now attempting to straddle the line between a civil service agency (as it was set up to be and indeed has always been, except during times when it was specifically placed in the service of the Navy) and a branch of the military, conforming to the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

For those who understand how the United States military has been set up, and the laws and prohibitions against military personnel engaging in the policing of civilians, the fact that the Coast Guard wants to act as a maritime police agency at the same time as it declares itself a branch of the military is a clear indication that the United States is now officially under martial law.'

And naturally Israeli officials are "outraged" by what they termed the "reprehensible" comments of Robert Serry, with one insisting that it was unfair to criticize the "vigilante actions" instead of focusing on "Palestinian suicide bombers attacking civilian buses." Did you know that in the aftermath of the Savings and Loan (Thrifts) scandal there were more than a thousand felony convictions of financial elites? The cost of the wrongdoing associated with the rip-off and closure of nearly 800 Thrifts cost taxpayers more than $160 billion. The current sub-prime/mortgage-backed security scandal is 40 times bigger according to Economics professor William Black. That means the size of the crime is $6.4 trillion by my calculation. Can you guess how many indictments there have been on financial elites who created this enormous mortgage crisis mess? Zero, none, nada, zip. Yes, not one single prosecution or conviction has been started of achieved.'

Leaked Trade Agreements and Hidden Things Inside S 510: Corporations Plan to End Normal Farming

Under provisions in CETA [Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement], using saved seed could result in a farmer's land, equipment, and crops being seized for alleged infringement of intellectual property rights attached to plant varieties owned by corporations such as Monsanto, Dow, Syngenta, and Bayer.

"It includes the freezing of bank accounts too, so you couldn't even defend yourself in court. And this is for alleged infringement," says NFU [National Farmers Union] president Terry Boehm. ...

"These are the most draconian measures possible and they would literally create a culture of fear in the farm population where, I think, that ultimately farmers would end up buying seeds every year for every acre just to avoid prosecution or the threat of prosecution".'

HMV Voucher Bribe for Teenage Girls to Have Cervical Jabs

Teenage girls are being bribed with high street shopping vouchers to receive a highly controversial vaccine.

A health trust is promising them £45 in tokens for stores such as HMV, Argos and Debenhams if they agree to the cervical cancer jab, which protects against a sexually-transmitted virus that can cause tumours.

Opponents say the vaccine - dubbed the 'promiscuity jab' - encourages girls to have sex earlier than they would.'

Young Family Charged £1,000 in Fees After Going Overdrawn... by Eight Pence

They were only overdrawn by 8p. But that trifling amount has left Angela Hannibal and Wayne Green with more than £1,700 in bank charges – and may even cost them their home.

Miss Hannibal, 21, who has just had a baby, opened a basic current account with Lloyds TSB when she was 15.

When she was 18, that was upgraded to a ‘silver’ account which offered her travel insurance, mobile phone insurance and breakdown cover for an £8 monthly payment.

But in January 2009, after the monthly service charge was taken out, Miss Hannibal was left with an unauthorised overdraft of 8p and was told she would have to pay the bank a charge of £170.

Struggling with bills and rent, the 21-year-old offered to pay the bank back at a rate of £30 a month. But she has had to pay a series of further unauthorised overdraft charges – at about £170 a time.'

Martial Law, Economic Meltdown, and Executive Orders

We have all watched in predicted horror as the financial infrastructure of America has been disassembled in a predetermined fashion by the likes of Goldman Sachs, the Federal Reserve and other Globalists. There are a variety of reasons why this is happening, none of which we have the power to change or alter in time to save us. Therefore, I will focus on what is to come and how we might handle it in order to survive it.

With the Federal Reserve actually suggesting that inflation might be the cure to the weak economy, massive unemployment numbers and a crashing dollar, one has to stop and ponder. The chairman of the Fed, Ben Bernanke, was a child prodigy, scored a near perfect SAT score, focused his studies around the Great Depression and is a statistical genius. So why is he so willing to abuse the Dollar and essentially sign the death warrant for America?'

7/7: New Support for Canary Wharf Story

Is this the first mention of a Radio 5 news-announcement, on the 11 o’clock news that morning, of this shooting, at Canary Wharf in the Docklands, of maybe three young men? For comparison, British philosopher Rory Ridley-Duff at Sheffield compiled 17 accounts from the media of this event at Canary Wharf having happened. In addition there are a few more in Appendix 3 of my book. Does anyone else recall such a news-announcement that morning?

If you’re new to the Canary Wharf story, maybe watch the fifth chapter of Muad’Dib’s Ripple Effect. The story often comes with dramatic accounts of how the entire Wharf was ‘locked down’ and 8000 workers in the 44-storey tower were told to stay away from windows and remain in the building for ‘at least six hours.’ By the evening the police were trying to dismiss the whole thing.'

Tariq Aziz Sentenced to Hang

The U.S.-led war against Iraq will soon be twenty years old. Those who remember the lead-up to the war in the summer of 1990 will certainly remember the face and words of Tariq Aziz, then foreign minister of Iraq. His was a voice of reason and intelligence that sought to avoid the war that led to the destruction of Iraq - and hundreds of thousands of lives.

Today, just a few days after the release of hundreds of thousands of documents that detail a very long list of war crimes committed by U.S. forces and their army of Iraqi quislings, Tariq Aziz was sentenced to death. This is a very black day for Iraq and the Iraqi people.'

Broke Guy Faces $2,000 Fine for Collecting Recyclables

The Department of Sanitation intends to make an example of a Staten Island man who tried to horn in on their turf by collecting recyclables from benefactors along his paper route. Poor Anthony McCorkle is trying to make ends meet by delivering the Staten Island Advance with the help of his brother's Hyundai. Some of his customers know he's in a tough spot, and they let him take the recyclable bottles in the bins outside their residence. But McCorkle is not a trained Department of Sanitation worker, and on Friday morning he was busted with a car full of contraband.

No-nonsense sanitation enforcer Robert Barrows spotted the bottles and cans in McCorkle's borther's 1997 Hyundai and told the perp to "turn off the car and give me the keys." McCorkle tells the Staten Island Advance that he replied, "It's my brother's car. I need the car to finish my paper route." That's probably the saddest combination of sentences we've heard all week, but Barrows was unfazed, and impounded the car, which McCorkle's brother has to pay $120 to get back. And both brothers each face a maximum $2,000 fine.'

Bernanke's Dilemma: $4 Trillion in Quantitative Easing

Ben Bernanke is in a real fix. His quantitative easing (QE) program is designed to boost stock prices, lower bond yields, and weaken the dollar.

But the market has already priced all that in, so when he announces the start of the program on November 3, there's a good chance that things will either stay the same or head in the opposite direction. That's bad for Bernanke. Just imagine if the dollar strengthens just as the Fed chairman begins buying-up Treasuries to push the dollar down. He'll look pretty foolish. But that could happen because the dollar has already slipped nearly 7% since August and is overdue for a rebound.

So, what should he do? Should he go ahead and launch his program anyway knowing it could backfire and further damage his credibility or scrap the whole deal and move on to Plan B?

The truth is, he has no choice. If he doesn't follow through now, investors will accuse him of "withdrawing liquidity" and send the market into a nosedive. So, he has to go forward and let the chips fall where they may. If QE2 turns out to be a bust, so be it.'
