SENIOR Eurocrats are plotting to set up a new European Union counter-terrorism agency that could cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of pounds. And critics warned last night the body could turn into a Europe-wide secret police force that would be “like the KGB”.
The move is also likely to infuriate MI5 and MI6 chiefs as British spies could be forced to share intelligence with European agents.
EU counter-terrorism director Olivier Luyckx envisages the new organisation working alongside the EU’s vast new diplomatic corps, headed by foreign affairs supremo Baroness Cathy Ashton.

Home After a YEAR in Care: The Twins Snatched by the State After Mother's Innocuous Remark Sparked a Social Services Witch Hunt
Leaning over the hospital incubator, Tara Norman smiled proudly down at her tiny newborn twins and whispered: ‘You should see what you have done to your Mummy’s body.’ It was the kind of rueful joke that any exhausted new mother might make after a traumatic emergency Caesarean section. Implicit, of course, was the emphatic message that she would do it all again in a heartbeat, for the sake of knowing the joy of motherhood.
The incident — if one can call it that — was never mentioned to Tara or Adrian. And if there were any other signs that something was amiss, the Normans, as new parents to two premature babies, were understandably too preoccupied to notice.
In fact, they knew nothing of the problem until days later, when a woman from Havering Social Services arrived at their home in Hornchurch, Essex, and announced: ‘I’m here because we want to take your children into care and we want you to agree to it.'

Netanyahu Seeks to Stop Gaza Flotilla
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on the United Nations to stop a flotilla seeking to break Tel Aviv's blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday that the flotilla, scheduled to head toward the Gaza Strip in May, is being organized by “elements whose aim is to create a provocation and bring about a conflagration,” AFP reported.

Libya's Rag-Tag Rebels Badly Need Training: US
WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday Libya's rag-tag rebels needed training more than guns in their battle against Moamer Kadhafi's army but that other nations should do the job. Facing lawmakers concerned that armed intervention in Libya could end in stalemate, Gates and top military officer Admiral Mike Mullen said a NATO-led air campaign had damaged Kadhafi's forces but not yet brought them to a breaking point.
With the outgunned opposition in retreat, the United States and its allies were now looking at how to assist the makeshift force, with weapons or other help, Gates said.

No Business Like War Business: Who Stands to Profit from Intervention in Libya?
This is what United States President Barack Obama did not dwell on when explaining his Libya doctrine to America and the world. The mind boggles with so many black holes engulfing this splendid little war that is not a war (a "time-limited, scope-limited military action", as per the White House) - compounded with the inability of progressive thinking to condemn, at the same time, the ruthlessness of the Muammar Gaddafi regime and the Anglo-French-American "humanitarian" bombing.
United Nations Security Council resolution 1973 has worked like a Trojan horse, allowing the Anglo-French-American consortium - and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) - to become the UN's air force in its support of an armed uprising.

Organic Groups, Farmers File Preemptive Lawsuit Against Monsanto to Protect Themselves from Inevitable Destruction by GMOs
In order to avoid completely losing their businesses and livelihoods to the predatory business model of Monsanto, 60 family farmers, seed businesses and organic agricultural organizations have collectively filed a preemptive lawsuit against the multinational biotechnology giant. Filed by the Public Patent Foundation (PUBPAT) on behalf of the plaintiffs, the suit seeks judicial protection against the inevitable lawsuits Monsanto will file against non-GM and organic farmers when its genetically-modified (GM) seeds and other materials contaminate their fields.

Humanism Laced with Geopolitics
The Director General of the European strategic intelligence and security center Claude Moniquet says that political and oil interests are behind the jostling by France and Britain to spearhead the military campaign against Libya, saying that both countries are scheming to play the leading political role in the Arab world. “Besides, the action of Paris and London in that region are traditionally dictated by oil interest”, Moniquet said.
Western countries’ main aims in the troubled regions are not so much the protection of civilians, as the pursuit of economic and geopolitical interests, as evidenced by similar military operations in the past 20 years.

The Impoverishment of Palestinian Arabs in Israel
The Palestinian population living within Israel is estimated to be 1.5 million citizens, approximately 20 per cent of the Israeli population. Of this number, about 370,000 are 'internally displaced'; they live in Israel but are not allowed to return to their homes or villages from which they were displaced during the 1948 Nakba (Catastrophe). Often regarded as the 'forgotten Palestinians' of the region, the Palestinians who reside in Israel find themselves in a unique situation compared to their compatriots in Israel and their neighbours in the West Bank and Gaza Strip -they are not entitled to the same rights as Jewish Israeli citizens and are not included or represented in the political negotiations.

Britain Census Data Open to US ?
The US government can http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.giftheoretically access the details of the lives of every British man and woman due to negligence by the Downing Street officials.
Roger Godsiff, the Labour MP for Birmingham Hall Green, has warned the British government that they are making the data from the national Census accessible to any US agency including the CIA by involving the giant American arms producer Lockheed Martin in the running of the survey.

'Protecting' Civilians By Killing Them: At Least 40 Dead In Tripoli Strikes
At least 40 civilians have been killed in air strikes by Western forces on Tripoli, the top Vatican official in the Libyan capital told a Catholic news agency on Thursday, quoting witnesses.
"The so-called humanitarian raids have killed dozens of civilian victims in some neighborhoods of Tripoli," said Giovanni Innocenzo Martinelli, the Apostolic Vicar of Tripoli.
"I have collected several witness accounts from reliable people. In particular, in the Buslim neighborhood, due to the bombardments, a civilian building collapsed, causing the death of 40 people," he told Fides, the news agency of the Vatican missionary arm.'

No Surveillance Without Oversight
The FBI recently announced that its Next Generation Identification System (NGIS) has "reached its initial operating capacity". This vast new biometrics project, for which Lockheed Martin won a $1bn contract in 2008, encompasses not only fingerprints but also, possibly, such biometrics as iris scans, face recognition, bodily scars, marks and tattoos.
Such a system raises a number of concerns from a civil liberties perspective. Many types of biometrics are of particular concern because they allow individuals to be tracked secretly and at a distance. For instance, facial recognition may allow a person to be tracked by various CCTV cameras across a city. Worse, in the future, this may be automated and done by computers.'

Forget democracy, human freedom and free markets. These concepts, which have made today’s human prosperity and long lifespans a reality for humans, wherever and whenever they are given the chance to work, are upsetting a small but very elitist group of individuals who view these concepts as a disruption and a threat to their world view.
The English edition of Der Spiegel has a recent interview with Prof Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. In this interview Schellnhuber announced that he would unveil his “Master Plan” for transforming society – one no doubt that suits his world view. In Schellhuber’s view, human society needs to be scaled back and managed by an elite group of “wise men” who know what is best for the rest.'

Clinton To Congress: Obama Would Ignore Your War Resolutions
The White House would forge ahead with military action in Libya even if Congress passed a resolution constraining the mission, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said during a classified briefing to House members Wednesday afternoon.
The answer surprised many in the room because Clinton plainly admitted the administration would ignore any and all attempts by Congress to shackle President Obama's power as commander in chief to make military and wartime decisions. In doing so, he would follow a long line of Presidents who have ignored the act since its passage, deeming it an unconstitutional encroachment on executive power.'

British Doctors Illegally Prescribe ADHD Drugs to Children as Young as Four
The overall rise in the number of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drugs being dispensed to children has been a major cause of concern among some medical groups, particularly as such drugs are now being prescribed to children under the age of six. In the UK, National Health Service (NHS) guidelines restrict the prescription of ADHD drugs to children under age six, but a recent report in the UK Guardian says that some doctors are unlawfully prescribing the drugs to children as young as four years old.
Researchers from the Centre for Paediatric and Pharmacy Research compiled data showing that prescription rates for ADHD drugs like Ritalin are highest among the age six to 12 category, which is the youngest age category for which they can legally be prescribed. And between 2004 and 2008, prescription rates doubled in this category, jumping to eight out of every 1,000 children.'

America's Planned Nuclear Attack on Libya
A war on Libya has been on the drawing board of the Pentagon for more than 20 years. Using nukes against Libya was first envisaged in 1997.
On April 14th 1986, Ronald Reagan ordered a series of bombings directed against Libya under "Operation El Dorado Canyon", in reprisal for an alleged Libya sponsored terrorist bombing of a Berlin discotheque. The pretext was fabricated. During these air raids, which were condemned by both France and Italy, Qadhafi's residence was bombed killing his younger daughter.
Barely acknowledged by the Western media, a planned attack on Libya using nuclear weapons, had been contemplated by the Clinton Administration in 1997, at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
The Department of Defense had developed a new generation of bunker buster tactical nuclear weapons for use in the Middle East and Central Asia.'

Since 24 March, Israeli forces have sealed the southern occupied West Bank village of Beit Ommar for an indefinite amount of time as soldiers continue to arrest young Palestinian residents and hold them in Israeli detention centers.
In a move akin to the four-year-long economic blockade against the occupied Gaza Strip, Israeli soldiers have closed the six entrances to the village of 17,000 inhabitants and have imposed a widespread prohibition policy against all major imports and exports from the village -- including gasoline, produce, raw industrial materials and basic supplies. Ambulances have also been prevented from entering or exiting the village.
The closures and arrests followed a brazen attack by an Israeli settler on a funeral procession on 21 March.'

So, naturally, there are quite a few people interested in what might cause such dramatic increases in marine mammal mortality. But Mississippi’s WLOX reported recently that government testing on the animals has been slow to commence, and Reuters reported over the weekend that a gag order has been put into place forbidding wildlife biologists at the National Marine Fisheries Service to talk to the media about their findings.

Amazing Car Runs On Just Water Alone
Japanese company Genepax presents its eco-friendly car that runs on nothing but water. The car has an energy generator that extracts hydrogen from water that is poured into the car’s tank. The generator then releases electrons that produce electric power to run the car. The electric powered car can run on any type of water (you can even use tea and soda…etc). The car can run for an hour at about 50 miles per hour on just a liter of water; about 2 cans of soda worth. Genepax, the company that invented the technology, aims to collaborate with Japanese manufacturers to mass produce it.

Vegan Parents Charged In Death of Baby Raised on Mother's Milk; Facing 30 Years in Prison
(NaturalNews) In the latest outrage of the global "vegan police" striking out against those who follow a healthy diet, a couple in France is now facing up to 30 years in prison because they refused to feed their baby junk infant formula and instead breastfed her. The baby died at 11 months of age, and when ambulance workers arrived and found the baby dead, instead of consoling the parents, they called the police. Why? Because the parents were vegans.
Just so you're getting all this straight, keep in mind that if the ambulance had shown up and found a dead baby in a family whose cupboards were stuffed full of junk food and fast food -- sugary cereals, McDonald's food wrappers, frozen pizza, ice cream and donuts -- that would not have seemed suspicious at all. You could have a baby die with a half-eaten bacon double cheeseburger in its hand and that wouldn't even raise an eyebrow. It is only the fact that the parents were vegans that the police were called.

Fluoride Spill at Water Facility Literally Burns Holes in Parking Lot Cement
A recent chemical spill at a water treatment facility in Rock Island, Ill., required the assistance of an emergency relief crew decked in the very same type of hazmat suits being worn by workers at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant in Japan. Except instead of radiation, the leaked chemical at the water plant was actually hydrofluorosilicic acid, a chemical fluoride component commonly added to drinking supplies for the stated purpose of preventing cavities. This fluoride chemical is so hazardous that it actually began to burn through parking lot cement in Rock Island before emergency crews arrived on the scene.

Japan to Scrap Quake-Hit N-reactors
Japan has announced that it will decommission four quake-hit nuclear reactors at the Fukushima nuclear power plant after failing to contain leakage of radiation out of them.
Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), operator of Fukushima nuclear plant, made the announcement on Wednesday, three weeks after attempts to control reactors one to four failed, the state-run BBC reports.
Meanwhile, the Japanese government has ordered the nuclear power plant operators to immediately implement new safety measures.

Japan Nuclear Crisis: Radioactive Particles in Britain
Low levels of radioactive iodine believed to be from the damaged Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan have been detected in Britain.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that trace levels of the radioactive chemical iodine-131 had been detected by measurements taken at a monitoring station in Oxfordshire yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) said an air sampler in Glasgow had picked up the particles which they believe could be from the plant.

Wow That Was Fast! Libyan Rebels Have Already Established A New Central Bank Of Libya
The rebels in Libya are in the middle of a life or death civil war and Moammar Gadhafi is still in power and yet somehow the Libyan rebels have had enough time to establish a new Central Bank of Libya and form a new national oil company. Perhaps when this conflict is over those rebels can become time management consultants. They sure do get a lot done. What a skilled bunch of rebels – they can fight a war during the day and draw up a new central bank and a new national oil company at night without any outside help whatsoever. If only the rest of us were so versatile!

British MPs Probe Corporate Tax Evasion
British Commons Treasury select committee is to launch a probe into corporate tax evasion amid growing concerns that multinational companies are not paying a fair tax bill. The committee will grill the top managers of major international entities like Vodafone and Barclays over the issue and they are likely to be asked to clarify their tax records.
According to George Mudie, the Labour MP for Leeds East who heads the Commons Treasury sub-committee, the issue is turning into a major concern for the public.
"When people see their standards of living fall and are paying their tax, and see huge salaries and questions over tax avoidance, then quite rightly they are interested in the issue," he told the Guardian.
