UN Panel Says World Should Ditch the Dollar
A U.N. panel will next week recommend that the world ditch the dollar as its reserve currency in favor of a shared basket of currencies, a member of the panel said on Wednesday, adding to pressure on the dollar.
Currency specialist Avinash Persaud, a member of the panel of experts, told a Reuters Funds Summit in Luxembourg that the proposal was to create something like the old Ecu, or European currency unit, that was a hard-traded, weighted basket.

UN Environment Chief Wants Global Warming Tax
You won’t find them calling it by that name, but the “New Green Deal” being proposed by the Obama administration, as well as U.N. environment agency head Achim Steiner, is nothing more than a global warming tax designed to further castrate U.S. sovereignty and geld Americans to accept increasingly centralized global regulations.

Washington Plans Global NATO To Replace UN

Barack Obama’s administration sees NATO as the nucleus for a global organization of democracies that will eventually replace the United Nations, believes an influential Russian newspaper.
Washington wants NATO to be expanded by inviting counties like Australia, Japan, Brazil and South Africa and become a global organization tackling not only security issues but also epidemics and human rights, reports Kommersant daily on Friday. The next US Ambassador to NATO Ivo H. Daalder is a great supporter of this idea.

United Nations Threat: No More Parental Rights
A United Nations human rights treaty that could prohibit children from being spanked or homeschooled, ban youngsters from facing the death penalty and forbid parents from deciding their families' religion is on America's doorstep, a legal expert warns.
The international treaty creates specific civil, economic, social, cultural and even economic rights for every child and states that "the best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration." While the treaty states that parents or legal guardians "have primary responsibility for the upbringing and development of the child," Farris said government will ultimately determine whether parents' decisions are in their children's best interest. The treaty is monitored by the CRC, which conceivably has enforcement powers.
According to the Parental Rights website, the substance of the CRC dictates the following:
Parents would no longer be able to administer reasonable spankings to their children.
A murderer aged 17 years, 11 months and 29 days at the time of his crime could no longer be sentenced to life in prison.
Children would have the ability to choose their own religion while parents would only have the authority to give their children advice about religion.
The best interest of the child principle would give the government the ability to override every decision made by every parent if a government worker disagreed with the parent's decision.
A child's "right to be heard" would allow him (or her) to seek governmental review of every parental decision with which the child disagreed.
According to existing interpretation, it would be illegal for a nation to spend more on national defense than it does on children's welfare.
Children would acquire a legally enforceable right to leisure.
Teaching children about Christianity in schools has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC.
Allowing parents to opt their children out of sex education has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC.
Children would have the right to reproductive health information and services, including abortions, without parental knowledge or consent.

UN Security Council Votes For Ceasefire In Gaza
The UN Security Council has voted to call for an immediate, durable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip leading to the full withdrawal of Israeli forces.
However, the United States abstained from voting on the ceasefire resolution while all other fourteen members voted in favor of Resolution 1860.

Just shows what a useless organisation the UN really is when it takes them this long to come up with a ceasefire resolution which will be just as ineffective as the countless UN resolutions passed against Israel in the last 30 years, every one of which Israel has totally ignored.

Former UK Ambassador Uses Undiplomatic Language Over Brown And Israel (He's right, though)
Brown is appeasing domestic horror at the Israeli massacre in Gaza by calling for a ceasefire. Meanwhile British diplomats on the United Nations Security Council are under direct instructions to offer "tacit support" to United States' efforts to block a ceasefire.
I have been told this directly by a former colleague in the UK Mission to the United Nations.

US Veto Blocks UN Anti-Israel Resolution
The UN Security Council has been unable to force an end to Israeli attacks against Gaza due to the intervention of the United States.
Washington once again used its veto powers on Sunday to block a resolution calling for an end to the massive ongoing Israeli attacks against the Gaza Strip.
The council has only been able to issue a 'non-binding' statement that calls on Israel to voluntarily bring all its military activities in the besieged region to an immediate end.

Obama's S.2433 Would Put United States Under UN Mandate
According to David Bossie, President of the group 'Citizens United for American Sovereignty', based out of Merrifield Virginia, website: http://www.citizensunited.org/
The above- mentioned Senate Bill (S. 2433) is a piece of legislation in the works that all Americans need to know about and know now!
This bill, sponsored by none other than Sen. Barack Obama, with the backing of Joe Biden on the Foreign Relations Committee, and liberal democrats in Congress, is nothing short of a massive giveaway of American wealth around the world, and a betrayal of the public trust, because, if passed, this bill would give over many aspects of our sovereignty to the United Nations.

EU, US Block IAEA Israel Resolution
The International Atomic Energy Agency conference of 145 nations criticizes Israel for refusing to put its atomic program under monitoring. Israel is known to have nuclear arms, but has a "no tell'' policy on the issue. However, Israel managed to evade a vote to link it to nuclear proliferation in the Middle East. Chief Iranian delegate to the UN nuclear watch dog, Ali Ashgar Soltanieh, said that Israel's nuclear capabilities represent a "serious and continued threat to the security of neighboring and other states.'' He took the United States and other Western backers of Israel to task for their "shameful silence'' on the threat posed by Israel's atomic arsenal.

What Nobody Wants To Know About Somalia And Why; And What That Means
A huge war crime -- a massive crime against humanity -- is going on right now in Somalia, courtesy of (but only indirectly traceable to) the Bush administration and Washington's bipartisan power elite. But, aside from Chris Floyd and a few other internet madmen, nobody knows -- or even wants to know -- much about it.What's happening? And why doesn't anybody want to know? These are troubling questions for anyone who cares about the soul of America, and even more troubling for anyone who's beginning to suspect that America has no soul at all.

UN Accuses UK of ' Demonising It's Children
Reality TV shows such as Supernanny infringe children's dignity, claim United Nations advisers.
Such programmes invade their privacy and portray children 'in a terrible light'. It is one of a string of complaints set down by the Committee on the Rights of the Child.
Members expressed concern about high levels of poverty, teenage imprisonment, public attitude to children and Britain's failure to tell youngsters about their UN-guaranteed rights.
The committee has previously urged the Government to incorporate its 1991 child convention into law, in the same way as the European Convention on Human Rights was made part of British law under the Human Rights Act of 1998.
However critics say the charter interferes with parents' rights.

Somalis Subject To Chemical Attacks
Some 25 Somali mothers complain their children are turning blind and deaf because Ugandan and Burundian soldiers are using chemical weapons. Talking to the media, the women said that at least 10 children have lost their mental bearings and 30 others have become blind and deaf as the Ugandan and Burundian forces are using new types of chemical weapons when they attack and destroy their houses, Press TV correspondent reported late Friday from Mogadishu. They say that these soldiers are not peacekeepers but peace killers, our correspondent quoted them as saying. They also said that these so-called peacekeepers are worse than the Ethiopian troops. First the Ethiopian troops massacred the civilians and now the troops from Burundi and Uganda are doing the same, they said.

Revealed: Shocking Footage That Could Prove 90 Afghans - Not Seven - Died In U.S. Airstrike

Shocking images that may have forced the U.S. military to reopen an investigation into an airstrike that killed Afghan civilians have been published in the media.
The grim, eight minute clip, filmed on a mobile phone in the aftermath of the bombing, shows rows of shrouded bodies laid side-by-side in a make-shift morgue. Among them are at least 11 children, many of them toddlers.
The footage may disprove the U.S. military claim that it killed just seven in a coalition air strike in western Afghanistan last month.
Afghanistan claims more than 90 people, many of them women and children, were killed in the August 22 strike. That claim was backed by the United Nations and disputed by the U.S.

UN Says Eat Less Meat To Curb Global Warming

'People should have one meat-free day a week if they want to make a personal and effective sacrifice that would help tackle climate change, the world's leading authority on global warming has told The Observer
Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which last year earned a joint share of the Nobel Peace Prize, said that people should then go on to reduce their meat consumption even further.
His comments are the most controversial advice yet provided by the panel on how individuals can help tackle global warning.
Pachauri, who was re-elected the panel's chairman for a second six-year term last week, said diet change was important because of the huge greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental problems - including habitat destruction - associated with rearing cattle and other animals. It was relatively easy to change eating habits compared to changing means of transport, he said.
The UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation has estimated that meat production accounts for nearly a fifth of global greenhouse gas emissions. These are generated during the production of animal feeds, for example, while ruminants, particularly cows, emit methane, which is 23 times more effective as a global warming agent than carbon dioxide. The agency has also warned that meat consumption is set to double by the middle of the century.'
