Journalist Calls Livni 'Terrorist' During Press Conference on Gaza Operation
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni had a testy press conference Friday in Washington, D.C., moments after she signed an agreement with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice meant to combat arms smuggling to Gaza.
Some journalists went so far as to compare the Israeli government to that of dictator Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe, due to Israel's decision to bar journalists from Gaza.
One of the more tense moments came when one journalist began to quote at length a Human Rights report on the situation in Gaza, before asking Livni to comment on "the murder of innocent civilians in the Strip."
When the man was asked to finish his question, he yelled out that Livni had been speaking for an hour and that the journalists weren't being allowed to ask questions. He then asked since when the U.S. has been hosting "terrorists."

I recently read that one of my heroes, Kevin Barrett, is leaving the country. Barrett is a strong proponent of 9/11 truth and an even stronger enthusiast for human rights. MPs Defy Judges To Keep Their Expenses Secret
Details of MPs’ claims for plasma televisions, furniture and cleaning bills will be kept secret after Harriet Harman bowed to backbenchers’ pressure to stop expenses claims being published.
MPs are preparing to pass a new law next week that will exempt them from parts of the Freedom of Information Act, meaning that they will never again be forced to publish receipts for their claims, in defiance of an order by the High Court.
This would make MPs the only public sector employees with special privileges to protect them from disclosing their expenses.

So, 2009 is here. It’s going to be a decision year for us all. We are at a fork in the road. The road we’re on leads to hell, and the other … well, who knows? That’s up to us.
Hell is a place we adults and our unfortunate offspring (who played no part in getting us there) will all soon know intimately if we try to work within the current systems of finance or government. “Go along to get along” does not work under present conditions.
The “alternative route” seems like the harder one to take. The risks seem higher on a road apparently paved with fear. But all’s to play for on this road if we have the guts to take it.

Brave Israeli Soldiers Shoot Woman In The Head Despite Waving White Flag
At around 8 am, the witnesses said, a 50-year-old Palestinian woman left the home of a relative while waving a white flag to allow the rest of her family to leave the home safely. According to the eyewitnesses, Ravhiya al-Najar was shot at just as she stepped out of the house and immediately fell to the ground.
She continued to wave the white flag to indicate that there were no armed men in the area, but then one of the bullets struck her head and killed her, they said.

President Kurmanbek Bakiyev is said to be preparing to announce the closure of Manas airbase, which acts as the main air hub for military supplies and troops travelling into Afghanistan.
Coalition forces have already been forced to seek alternative supply lines into Afghanistan after the main Khyber Pass road from Pakistan has seen repeated closures after attacks from Taliban militants.
A Russian newspaper reported that Manas would be closed in return for £1.3 billion of Russian investment.
The US State Department said it was not aware of any plans to close the base, but sources close to the Kyrgyz president said he will announce the closure before visiting Moscow later this month.

Tickets to the concert were sold out so the group headed back to one of their homes in two cars. Heavy traffic in the centre of the city forced the group to go an alternative route past a lake on the outskirts of the town. One of the cars halted as the driver spotted a remarkable sight above the small lake that they were passing.
Two large lights rose from the lake, one white and one red. Two beams were then shot from the lights towards the lake and at that point the lights appeared to change formation; this lasted no less than ten minutes before the strange lights shot off upward into the night sky.

Doubtless, the conflict between Israel and Hamas is one of the many issues that Obama will have to address when he enters the Oval Office. Is the President-elect sincere in his opposition to the terrorists responsible for the current Middle East crisis? But the words of Ahmed Yousef, a top Hamas political advisor, during a WABC interview, seem to suggest that Obama's opposition to Hamas may be a mere public relations ploy.During the interview, Yousef stated:
"We don't mind-actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance."
Why would Hamas support an Obama presidency? The answer may lie in a group known as the Muslim Brotherhood.
