Britain Gives Up Forests Sell-off Plan


Britain's Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman will announce an end to the controversial consultation on the sale of the 258,000 hectares of public woodlands.

Prime Minister David Cameron has told the MPs that he was not “happy with the government's handling of the issue,” and he would not back the plan anymore.

Instead, a new group of experts is planned to reconsider the bill "with something everyone is happy with", a government source said.

  1. well, that IS the sensible approach. What sensible person sells off their assets?

    Yes, the plan to sell off the UK's forest was and is the dumbest idea of 2011, so far.

    That is like selling your heart or essential organs when you still need them. Very daft indeed!
