What I find most surprising about this story is the fact that the police will not investigate serious crimes actually being comitted, but crime that haven't yet been committed. Kind of typical.
ReplyDeleteEight police officers go out and arrest one man on a mobility scooter, in the meantime, children are having their mobile phones stolen right in front of a police station and there is not one police officer in the station to help this child.
I witnessed this episode last week, when a young boy of between 13-14 and his friends coming home from school near Streatham/Norbury area said he was approached by a boy who was over 6 feet tall who demanded for his mobile phone and valuables. According to the teenager, who I spoke with after the incident, he explained to me that the bigger boy in mufti had threatened to turn out his pockets if he didn't hand over all his valuables straight away.
In the meantime, on visiting a police station in the area, there were no police officers on hand to help to catch the criminal who had calmly walked off with the boy's mobile phone leaving him feeling quite upset and scared.
In the meantime the mobile phone company was just as useless. After giving the boy my phone to use to suspend his line, they were asking this teenager for his bank details, instead of just cancelling or suspending the phone line. This teenager could barely remember his mobile number, how would he know his bank details, if he even had a bank account.
You have to wonder sometimes.
