Tens of thousands have gathered in Japan's southern island of Okinawa to hold a massive rally against a controversial US military base on the Japanese island.
Some 100,000 demonstrators, including Okinawa's governor, gathered near the Kadena airbase — which is the largest US military facility in the Asia-Pacific region.
A similar protest was held in Tokyo on Saturday. The protesters demanded the removal of the controversial Futenma airbase.'
