EU Travel Disruption 'Unacceptable'
The European Commission says the air travel disruption across Europe because of heavy snowfalls is “unacceptable” and should not happen again.
Due to the recent heavy snowfalls, several airports in different parts of Europe have faced problems, including shortage of de-icing fluid.
The Heathrow airport in London, for instance, has reported difficulties in dealing with a backlog of flights.
Although some airport officials claimed that the snowfall was not predictable, Siim Kallas -- the European Commission Vice President in charge of transport -- said that such weather was not far from expectation in Europe and the airport operators should have planned beforehand to manage such situations.'
