"Peace cannot last unless it restores full rights to their owners in accordance with international resolutions," he was quoted as saying by Syrian Arab News Agency.
Assad made the remarks during a meeting with US envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, on Thursday.
"Syria is not asking for any compromises from Israel to achieve peace, but the usurped land which must fully return to its legitimate owners," he said.'
