Ban Smoking in all Cars Say Campaigners

There are concerns that youngsters are being exposed to second-hand smoke caused by adults enjoying cigarettes while driving.

Fears have also been raised about the number of accidents caused by people smoking behind the wheel.

Deborah Arnott, chief executive of Action on Smoking and Health (Ash), said the charity was in favour of a ban on smoking in cars.

The risks were not just to children but to adults suffering from conditions like heart disease, she said.

"Cars are small tin boxes, with not much air in them," she added.

  1. There is no one more anti smoking than I am, HOWEVER, this war on freedoms is just ludicrous. I understand public places etc, but if they want to stink up their own homes, let them. I won't visit, but that, too, is MY choice!

    This petty bureaucratic CRAP and political correctness is truly the undoing of all our personal freedoms and we have to do our best to resist it. Smokers have made their decision. I may or may not approve, my home may be smoke free, but that is MY choice. Let them have THEIR choice too.

    This everything for the rights of children is a small part of the ongoing project of alienation between parents and children that is going on in our world. I have read about where this is supposed to go as the programme goes on and it is very unhealthy for human beings and other mammals.
