London Set to Limit Right to Protest

The British government has announced controversial plans to ban protestors from taking part in public gatherings following the weekend anti-cuts rallies, which were marred by violence.

Based on a proposal by Home Secretary Theresa May, the police may be given new powers to prevent so-called hooligans from attending rallies and marches while officers will also be authorized to force demonstrators, who do not want to be known, to remove their face-scarves and balaclavas.

The announcement has raised concerns among MPs who say no hasty decision should be made on the issue as the police may abuse the “stop and search” powers to target ordinary people rather than “known hooligans”.

Rothschilds and Big Pharma Pushing Breast Cancer Drugs for Healthy Women

Up to one in 10 women could benefit from anti-cancer treatments such as tamoxifen even before they show signs of the disease, according to an international panel of experts.

But there are concerns the drug could have side-effects, such as blood clots and, in some cases, womb cancer.

In a paper published today in The Lancet Oncology, the specialists call for a radical new approach to identifying and treating patients who are at risk.'

Fresh Supermarket Rip-Off? The Bakery Products That Can Be Up to a Year Old

Rustic breads and cakes sold in the ‘fresh’ bakery areas of supermarkets may be a little more rustic than you would like.

The products are often defrosted and can be up to a year old, investigators revealed.

Many rolls and baguettes are given a second baking of up to eight minutes before being put on the shelves so they appear to be fresh with more of a crust.'

Anti-Semitism: Where Does Hate Originate?

The Spring festival of Purim is a pagan holiday in Jerusalem characterized by "bacchanalian scenes of drunken cavorting, Halloween style clothing and masks, Talmudic men cross-dressed as women and a general topsy-turvy, 'Lord of Misrule' ambiance." (Michael Hoffman, Judaism Discovered, p.824)

The festival commemorates Queen Esther's convincing the King of Persia, Ahaseurus, to slaughter anti-Semites who "planned to exterminate Jews." These anti-Semites led by the Prime Minister Haman were killed by the thousands. At Purim, Jews innocently bake and eat cookies called "Hamantaschem" (shaped like Haman's ear) as part of the celebration. This sense of imminent extermination is ingrained in the Jewish psyche and is used to manipulate them and justify any behavior.'

Is Fukushima About to Blow?

Conditions at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant are deteriorating and the doomsday scenario is beginning to unfold. On Sunday, Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) officials reported that the levels of radiation leaking into seawater at the Unit 2 reactor were 100,000 times above normal, and the airborne radiation measured 4-times higher than government limits. As a result, emergency workers were evacuated from the plant and rushed to safe location. The prospect of a full-core meltdown or an environmental catastrophe of incalculable magnitude now looms larger than ever. The crisis is getting worse.

If spent fuel rods catch fire from lack of coolant, the intense heat will lift radiation plumes high into the atmosphere that will drift around the world. That's the nightmare scenario, clouds of radioactive material showering the planet with lethal toxins for months on end. And, according to the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics of Vienna, that deadly process has already begun.'

EPA to Help Mainstream Media Obscure The Truth About Radiation Exposure to Americans

As Americans focus on March Madness and Dancing With the Stars instead of the radioactive plume spreading all across the country, the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is attempting to make the mainstream media cover up of the Fukushima cloud a bit easier.

The agency now notorious for its infamous claim that the air was safe to breathe after 9/11 is now seeking to raise the PAGs (Protective Action Guides) to levels vastly higher than those at which they are currently set allowing for more radioactive contamination of the environment and the general public in the event of a radioactive disaster.

PAGs are policies established by the EPA that guide the agency in enforcing the various environmental laws such as the Clean Air and Water Act in the invent of a radioactive emergency such as a nuclear/dirty bomb or factory meltdown like that occurring in Japan.'

A growing Dutch political storm could end with a blanket ban on bonuses to financiers who work for institutions bailed out by the taxpayer.

ING customers mobilised on Twitter and other social networks to protest at bonuses paid to bosses at the bank, one of the biggest in the country. The threat of direct action raised the spectre of a partial run on ING, terrifying the Dutch establishment. Fred Polhout, union organiser at the bank, says: "People were outraged. We heard about the bloated sums being paid again in the City and in New York; but suddenly the issue exploded on our own front door".'

Why Libya? NATO's War for Oil

The war of intervention in Libya is yet another American illegal adventure, argues Keith Harmon Snow, an independent war correspondent.

The objective, he says, secured access to Libya's significant oil supply, other mineral resources and defense testing.

He says the argument of humanitarianism and stopping a "warlord" was absolute nonsense. If that argument were true, he contends, there are far more brutal war criminals in African countries the US could have chosen to target.'

Subversion of Due Process: The Death of Dr. David Kelly Open Letter to Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron

When Lord Hutton reported on 28 January 2004, many said "whitewash”. The Hutton Report was indeed a "whitewash", not so much because Lord Hutton wrongly found the http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifBBC and not the Government responsible for Dr Kelly's "suicide" but much more importantly because Lord Hutton failed adequately to address the cause of death itself and the manner of death. The invocation by Lord Falconer, in his role as Lord Chancellor, of Section 17a of the 1988 Coroners Act to replace the statutory inquest by a non-statutory ad hoc judicial inquiry was highly irregular, as was the Coroner’s decision not to re-open the inquest following Hutton’s report. Not only did Lord Falconer, in his role as Minister for Constitutional Affairs, commission the Hutton Inquiry and determine its very narrow remit but he also decided, in his role as Lord Chancellor, that it would be an adequate replacement for a statutory inquest, when it was clearly no such thing. Given all this meddling with due process of the law it is perhaps not surprising that the death itself was not properly investigated.

Aftershock: The Ticking Time Bomb of Soldiers' Traumatic Brain Injuries

Soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are a generation of warriors whose fight has shifted from external combat zones to invisible internal battlefields.

At 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 21, 2010, Iraq veteran Brock Savelkoul decided it was time to die. He lurched from his black Tacoma pickup truck, gripping a 9-mm pistol. They had surrounded him on a muddy red road after an hour-long chase that reached speeds of 105 miles per hour.

Protests Mount in US Over GM Foods

Americans have staged protests in many cities throughout the United States against Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) used that make foods 'unsafe.'

As the movement for labeling genetically modified foods gathers pace in the US, demonstrators also held protest rallies in Washington outside the White House on Saturday.

Protesters say despite the claim made by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1992, there is compelling evidence that GMOs are not safe and labeling foods as organic does not guarantee that they are GMO-free.

A Peaceful Protest. The Inevitable Aftermath

There were two demonstrations in London yesterday. The first, and most enduringly important, was that by half a million people against the cuts that are falling disproportionately on vital public services and those who provide them.

The other one was a demonstration of just how easy it is for a few hundred people to steal the occasion with sporadic acts of violence. Last night, it the latter one which was taking the headlines as police and protesters clashed in Trafalgar Square.

Earlier half a million people descended on central London for the biggest protest the nation has seen since demonstrations against the Iraq war eight years ago. They streamed into the capital from across the country to vent their anger at government cuts, their only weapons peaceful chanting and waving placards. There were 500,000 people and, with their disperate causes, represented 500,000 different reasons to take a stand.'

Police Use Tank To Make an Arrest!

Militarization of police? You bet. The suspect was thought to be involved with cockfighting. He was unarmed. There was not a suspicion that he was armed. Not a pure instance, I grant, because actor Steven Seagal was in on this through a contract with the sheriff who did it. That itself is incredible. The rest below quotes the article:

Neighbor Debra Ross was so worried she called 911 and went outside where a nearby home had its windows blown out, was crawling with dozens of SWAT members in full gear, armored vehicles and a bomb robot.

“When the tank came in and pushed the wall over and you see what’s in there, and all it is, is a bunch of chickens,” Ross said.'

Fukushima Engineer Confesses to Participating in Criminal Coverup, Says Flawed Steel in Reactor Four Has Always Been a 'Time Bomb'

Just days after the 9.1 mega-earthquake and tsunami hit off the east cost of Japan, a former employee of Hitachi Ltd. (6501) came forward saying that he helped cover up a flawed steel protective vessel that was installed in the Fukushima Dai-Ichi Reactor 4 core in 1974. Mitsuhiko Tanaka told Bloomberg that the defective steel in the $250 million vessel was a very serious "time bomb" just waiting to go off, as it represents the key protective unit for the reactor's core.

Though Reactor 4 was not running at the time of the quake and tsunami, its cooling pool contains a number of spent fuel rods that require proper cooling in order to prevent a serious meltdown. Earlier this week, reports indicated that the pool is empty, and that it seems to have a crack or hole that is preventing it from being effectively refilled, which could spell disaster for the 130 tons of uranium inside the reactor.'

Pentagon Hires Contractors to Regulate Contractors

Instead of keeping watch itself, the Department of Defense today relies on contractors to monitor the work of other contractors, a risk strategy that became cemented during the Iraq War thanks to a politically-connected-and powerful-company with ties to the Bush White House.

In late 2004, the U.S. Army command overseeing logistical support for troops in Iraq had a serious problem on its hands. Army officials had hired KBR, then a subsidiary of Halliburton, which Vice President Dick Cheney had helped lead, to supply soldiers with food and other supplies. But at least $1 billion in billing by KBR was questioned by the Pentagon's Defense Contract Audit Agency, resulting in the Army deciding to withhold 15% of its payments to KBR.

Company officials fought the withholding and pressured both the Defense Department and Congress to release the money it claimed it was owed. So the Army removed those who had raised alarms over the billing and hired another company, consulting firm RCI, to conduct its own audit of KBR costs.

RCI didn't find any problem with KBR's billing and the contractor got most of its money.'
