FDA Approves Gardasil as Anal Cancer Vaccine

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of vaccine Gardasil in preventing anal cancer and pre-cancerous lesions in young women and men.

FDA has granted its green light to the use of the vaccine in young people aged between 9 and 26 to prevent anal cancer and lesions caused by four types of the human papillomavirus (HPV).
