FDA Approves Gardasil as Anal Cancer Vaccine
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of vaccine Gardasil in preventing anal cancer and pre-cancerous lesions in young women and men.
FDA has granted its green light to the use of the vaccine in young people aged between 9 and 26 to prevent anal cancer and lesions caused by four types of the human papillomavirus (HPV).
The popular vaccine Gardasil had already been used for the young women at the same age to prevent cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancer caused by human HPV.'
