Sniper Shootout in Oakland : Police Negotiations Fail, Civil Unrest Begins California

  1. Don't you think this is crazy?

Well, it looks like it's really going down on Oakland avenue.

Don't you think it makes more sense that they pay upstanding police officers to protect people from crime instead of wasting their time chasing petty crimes like, Jaywalking. Just ridiculous.

America is looking like third world right about now, or maybe that's what they want it to look like.

After watching this video clip, it sounds like something from the movie, Assault on precinct 13. Incidentally, I have the original movie, not the remake on VHS. the storyline is pretty similar too. They shut down a police station and all hell breaks loose in the neighbourhood soon after.

  2. You know it's funny, but I can't get the theme song for Assault on precinct 13 out of my head now.

  3. Actually, I just discovered that this civil unrest is all part of the killing of Oscar Grant. I have seen pictures of this man, but never really knew what it was all about until today when I read another blog.

Basically, the police killed this man in Oakland in cold blood. What was his crime? Fifty witnesses to back up the story and yet the police officer that shot him got the lightest sentence going.

So, after seeing that, I am not surprised that people have snapped. After all, there is only so much police brutality that people can take.

Justice should be exactly what it is, the sytem is just too corrupt and the people passing the laws are morally bankrupt, so no surprises there.
