A mother has been hit with a £700 fine for putting her rubbish out early so her daughter had more room to play in the family's backyard.
Victoria Clarke, 21, had put the bags out on the pavement to create more space for her four-year-old.
But litter patrols spotted the rubbish - and hauled Victoria into court for the offence of 'the advancement of waste.'
She was accused of leaving eight bags outside her house and eventually fined £350 with £350.12 costs
The court also ordered her to pay a £15 victim surcharge under the terms of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Miss Clarke, a single parent from Reddish, near Stockport, said: 'This is totally over the top and I'm flabbergasted at what's happened.
There are people out there beating each other up getting drunk in the street and causing all sorts of trouble yet most of them seem to get a slap on the wrist.
'Meanwhile I'm getting a massive fine for putting out rubbish on the wrong day. It's ridiculous and I will definitely appeal.
'I'm a single mum and cannot afford to pay it. The sum of £700 represents two months rent on this house.
'There was no way I had eight bin bags out there. It's just me and my daughter and I put three bags out.
'The fact is there are other people living on the same row of terraces and they put their bin bags at the end of the entry as well.
'It's absolutely shocking and like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
