West Bank Settlements Plans 'Disappoint' US


The US has expressed "deep disappointment" with Israel's plans to build more than a thousand new settlement units in “sensitive areas” of East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

US State Department spokesman Philip J. Crowley on Monday described the move as “counterproductive" to Washington's efforts to resume stalled direct negotiations between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel.

The direct talks started on September 2 in Washington upon an invitation by the US State Department, but soon collapsed due to Tel Aviv's insistence to pursue its settlement plans in the occupied West Bank.'
