The US Senate has once again rubberstamped the extension of the controversial Patriot Act, which enforces 'counter-terrorism' searches and surveillance until 2015.
The senators voted 72-23 just hours before the law expires on Friday, sending the bill to the lower Congressional chamber for further approval, AFP reported, quoting a congressional aide.
The FBI and other intelligence representatives have warned that if the Act is not extended, they will lose vital tools in the so-called fight against terrorism.'
