Panic Fuel Buying Troubles France
French government has urged drivers not to rush to petrol pumps, insisting stocks would last despite the shutdown of refineries as pension strikes continues in the country.
"We have as much (petrol) as we need for at least a month," said Transport Minister Dominique Bussereau on Thursday, urging drivers to stop panic buying, AFP reported.
Panic buying caused tail-backs at filling stations and local shortages on Wednesday, when strikes shut down 70 percent of France's refining capacity.
French oil giant Total said earlier that strikes by its workers in France has forced the company to shut down operations at all six of its refineries in the country. At least 11 out of 12 refineries across France, including six run by Total, have been affected by the strike.'
