Despite Protests, Wisconsin Assembly OKs Bill


The Wisconsin state Assembly has passed a controversial bill that will strip public workers of their union rights, despite mass rallies staged to protest the plan.

The bill, the first significant plan drawn up by the state's new Republican governor, was approved on Friday by a vote of 51 to 17. Twenty-eight lawmakers, including 25 Democrats, two Republicans and one independent, did not vote on the bill, UPI reported.'
