The association of rock music with satanism isn’t new. Groups like Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath have exploited this type of imagery decades ago. Young fans saw in those groups the perfect way to rebel against authority and the ideal medium through which they could affirm their individuality. Korn’s Thoughtless video could be considered a continuation of this “tradition” but with a troubling twist: in this case, satanism is directly marketed to school kids and is presented in as almost practical answer to their problems.
