UN Security Council Slaps New Sanctions on Iran


The UN Security Council (UNSC) has voted in favor of imposing a fourth round of sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.

Of the 15 UNSC member states Brazil and Turkey voted against the new round of sanctions on Wednesday, while Lebanon abstained from vote.

The fourth round of sanctions was adopted against Iran over its uranium enrichment -- which has been portrayed as a threat in the West despite repeated assurances from the IAEA on the non-diversion of nuclear material in the country.'

Russia Warns Against Iran Sanctions


Russia and China have warned against attempts to lobby for further sanctions against Iran in a UN Security Council vote due to be held on Tehran's nuclear program.

"We are against forcing the voting process," Interfax news agency quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying in Beijing on Friday.

The United States has been stepping up efforts to persuade veto-wielding UNSC members Russia and China to agree to a new round of sanctions against Iran.'

Obama Calls Syria a Threat, Renews Ban


US President Barack Obama has renewed the country's sanctions against Syria, branding it as a source of threat to Washington.

In a letter to the US Congress on Monday, extending the nearly six-year-old embargo against Syria, Obama claimed Damascus was "continuing support for terrorist organizations and pursuit of weapons of mass destruction and missile programs," AFP reported.

Such alleged activities, he added, “continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States".'

IAEA Rejects Own Reports, Purpose, Non-Proliferation Treaty: Orwellian Vote Condemns Compliant Iran


Iran received US assistance under the US-imposed dictator, the Shah Pahlavi (a "king"). When Iran deposed their king, the US withdrew their assistance and refused to refund billions of dollars Iran had paid. France also reneged on contracts without refunding Iran’s payments. The issues over Iran allowing other nations to develop their nuclear fuel is colored by this history of US and France still owing Iran billions of dollars, and refusing Iran’s offer to only allow a fuel exchange if their unprocessed uranium is simultaneously swapped with enriched fuel.'

UN's Falk Calls For Sanctions Against Israel

The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Gaza Strip has called for military and economic sanctions against Israel.

"The UN has not been willing [yet] to give what's needed to exert significant pressure on Israel to lift the blockade that under any circumstances is unlawful," Richard Falk told Press TV on Thursday.

"The only thing that could be more effective would be a move toward economic sanctions that would include military assistance" to Israel, the UN diplomat underlined.'

UN Body Urges Israel to Allow Nuclear Inspection

This is good news, no it is great news. Now, let's hope it is followed up on. Though I will point out, Israel is saying they will not cooperate in any way with this resolution.
Hmmm... sounds like time for some strong sanctions.

Peled Proposes Israeli Sanctions on US

In a sign of growing concern in Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's government over US President Barack Obama's Middle East policies, Minister-without-Portfolio Yossi Peled proposed Israeli sanctions on the US in a letter to cabinet ministers on Sunday.

AIPAC Pushing for New Iran Sanctions Bill?

Influential Israeli lobby group in the US, AIPAC is to push for a newly crafted resolution designed to choke off Iranian gas imports.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which is scheduled to hold its annual conference next week, said the introduction of a new bill against Iran's gasoline trade on Tuesday is no coincidence.
