How Israel Targets and Suppresses Opposition to Its Annexation Wall

On July 9, 2004 in a unanimous decision, the International Court of Justice (IJC) ruled that "the construction of the Wall being built by Israel, and its associated regime, are contrary to international law...." It said construction on it must cease. Built sections must be dismantled, Palestinian land returned, and compensation paid for property destroyed. The UN General Assembly endorsed the decision. Israel rejected it out of hand, keeps seizing Palestinian land, continues the wall's construction, and ruthlessly suppresses efforts to halt it.

Israeli Soldiers Watch Settlers Grab Nablus Land
Settlers have grabbed acres of Palestinian land south of the West Bank city of Nablus while Israeli soldiers stand and watch the incident as inactive onlookers.
The Palestinian Authority official monitoring settler activity in the northern West Bank said dozens of settlers overran the land near a military checkpoint on the outskirts of Hawara village on Friday.
They unloaded metal and barbed wire from trucks and fenced off the 40,000-square-meter area, which lies between the villages of Kafr Qalil and Burin, Ghassan Dughlus reported.
He said soldiers stationed at the nearby Huwwara checkpoint did not intervene.

Israel 'to Grab' Dead Sea Shore as Property
Israel plans declaring ownership of the West Bank's Dead Sea shore as “state property,” to confiscate more Palestinian land, an anti-settlement group says.
"Israeli authorities have announced that they intend to declare as state land some 138,600 dunums (34,650 acres) that has emerged along the Dead Sea in the occupied West Bank due to the drop in the water level," said Hagit Ofran of the Peace Now group Tuesday, quoted by AFP.
