Zionist Miliband: Democracy at Risk

Britain faces a “dangerous month for our democracy”, David Miliband, the foreign secretary, said on Sunday.

His warning came amid signs that the row over Westminster expenses could translate into rising support for fringe parties in June’s elections.

Mr Miliband admitted there was a risk that people could lose faith with democracy, as a poll suggested that Labour’s vote in the European elections could tumble to 17 per cent – on a par with the UK Independence party.

Renewed allegations of abuse of the Westminster system emerged last night when it was claimed that the parliamentary authorities gave permission for some MPs to over-claim for thousands of pounds in home loan interest.

David Miliband Presses for Gag on CIA Memo

David Miliband, the foreign secretary, tonight made a fresh attempt to stop high court judges from disclosing information about what Britain's security and intelligence agencies knew of the ill-treatment and alleged torture of a UK resident.

In his third demand for a gagging order, he argued that "real harm to the national security and international relations of the United Kingdom would be caused" if a seven-paragraph summary of CIA intelligence information was disclosed.

Miliband made his last-ditch attempt to suppress the information on a day when Paul Jenkins, the government's most senior lawyer, told the high court in a separate, hotly disputed case that he had written to senior officials throughout Whitehall reminding them of "the rigorous nature and extent of our duties of disclosure".

Revealed: British Arms Used in Gaza Conflict

British arms were used by Israel during recent operations in Gaza, the foreign secretary has admitted.

The revelation is acutely embarrassing for David Miliband, who assured the Commons this was not the case during the fighting at the turn of the year.

During a Commons debate on January 12th this year, Mr Miliband told his Liberal Democrat counterpart: "…we have no evidence of any of the exports that he has pointed to being used in this operation.

How Hard is it For the Truth to be Heard

Yesterday Harriet Harman was lying through her teeth on the Andrew Marr show, claiming that the Government had never had any idea any of its intelligence was coming through torture.

Meanwhile, the Government has refused to testify on this subject before the Parliamentary Joint Commission on Human Rights, where such lies may have consequences.

If Harman is telling the truth, what do Ministers have to hide from the Parliamentary Commission?

Of course, she is not telling the truth.

I today sent this memorandum to the Joint Commission on Human Rights, offering to give evidence before them - if Ministers won't tell them what is happening, perhaps I can:

I wish to offer myself as a witness before the Joint Commission on Human Rights on the subject of the UK government's policy on intelligence cooperation with torture abroad.

I appeared as a witness in person before both the European Parliament and European Council's enquiries into extraordinary rendition. My evidence was described by the European Council's Rapporteur, Senator Dick Marty, as "Compelling and valuable".
