Journalist Calls Livni 'Terrorist' During Press Conference on Gaza Operation

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni had a testy press conference Friday in Washington, D.C., moments after she signed an agreement with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice meant to combat arms smuggling to Gaza.

Some journalists went so far as to compare the Israeli government to that of dictator Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe, due to Israel's decision to bar journalists from Gaza.

One of the more tense moments came when one journalist began to quote at length a Human Rights report on the situation in Gaza, before asking Livni to comment on "the murder of innocent civilians in the Strip."

When the man was asked to finish his question, he yelled out that Livni had been speaking for an hour and that the journalists weren't being allowed to ask questions. He then asked since when the U.S. has been hosting "terrorists."

Rice Justifies Israeli Killing of Civilians

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says it is "hard" for Israeli troops to spare civilian lives in the densely-populated Gaza Strip."It is very difficult in circumstances like Gaza, which is a very densely populated area," Rice told reporters on Friday when asked if Israel is living up to its humanitarian obligations during its massive military offensive in the beleaguered sliver.

Washington Exploits Mumbai Attacks To Promote 'War On Terror'

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice flew to New Delhi Wednesday, ostensibly to deliver US condolences for the 173 people killed in the terrorist attacks that rocked Mumbai last week and express solidarity with the people of India.This will likely be among the last major international initiatives launched by Rice, whose role in foisting the wars of aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan on the American people and implementing the US programs of torture and extraordinary rendition makes her an appropriate target for a war crimes indictment.

In the Middle East—where she is infamous for hailing the 2006 Israeli war that killed thousands of Lebanese civilians as the "birth pangs" of peace—protesters have frequently portrayed the American secretary of state as a vampire, her fangs dripping in blood.

This image serves as a fitting metaphor for her current foray into South Asia, where she is spearheading an attempt by Washington to exploit the blood of the innocent victims in Mumbai to promote the so-called "global war on terrorism" through which Washington pursues its geostrategic interests.'

Fugitive Rice Escapes Justice In Auckland

United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made a narrow escape from justice, with the assistance of the New Zealand Police, in Auckland on Saturday 26 July. The police can now consider themselves accessories to war crimes. Rice met with government leaders in Auckland but was chased by 150 protesters spurred on by a bounty of $10,000. They called for her arrest, under the Geneva Convention, for war crimes and for her role in authorising the use of torture.

Hilary Clinton To Replace Condoleeza Rice

Hillary Clinton was being tipped last night for a top job in Barack Obama's Cabinet as America's next Secretary of State.
The surprise move is being seen in Washington as an attempt to heal the rift in the Democratic Party caused by the hard-fought battle for the presidential nomination earlier this year.
By making the former First Lady his top diplomat, the President-elect would also be rewarding his one-time rival for standing by him in his White House campaign against Republican John McCain.

Condoleezza Rice Says Bush Made The Middle-East A Better Place

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said she believes the Middle East is a better place for the policies of President George Bush. Speaking to the BBC, Ms Rice insisted that a US-inspired "freedom agenda" had taken hold in the Middle East. She told her interviewer she was especially proud of the situation in the Palestinian territories, and said: "I don't think that you have had an administration that has more actively been seeking a Palestinian state. The Palestinians now have a peace process that is the most serious one in many many years." Ms Rice also said Iraq had become a "good Arab friend" of America which, she said, far from being destroyed, had been fully integrated into the Arab world.Elsewhere, Syrian forces were out of Lebanon and women had the vote in Kuwait, she noted. She said the US would need to remain wary of Iran, but would still need to be prepared to negotiate on Iran’s nuclear push.Ms Rice said: "What we don't want to do is to give Iran cover to continue improving its nuclear programs that could lead to a nuclear weapon."
