Arizona Official Threatens to Cut Off Los Angeles Power as Payback for Boycott


If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.

That’s the message from a member of Arizona’s top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city’s power supply as retribution.

Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the five-member Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council’s decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State — in protest of its immigration law — by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses.'

Mother refused permission to buy wine by Tesco - in case she gave them to her daughter

Karen Dumelow was queuing to pay for her weekly shopping with daughter Emily when the checkout assistant demanded to see her daughter's ID.
But when Emily could not produce any, Mrs Dumelow, a fraud investigator, was told she could not buy the two bottles of Tesco finest white wine.
She protested to three senior members of staff at the store in Portsmouth, Hants, but they told her that they backed the decision made by the female checkout assistant.
Mrs Dumelow, from Milton, near Portsmouth, was forced to put aside the two bottles of wine and pay for the rest of the shopping.
She then sent Emily off to the car and used the same till, manned by the same checkout assistant, to pay for the alcohol.

Tesco Promoting Genetically Modified Food

Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy has signalled that the retailer is willing to back genetically modified (GM) foods, saying consumer attitudes have changed and it has a vital part to play.

He added that there also seemed to be a growing appreciation by people that GM was likely to play "a vital role in feeding the world, in adapting to climate change and indeed in producing some of these more nutritional products – foods - that people will need".

Yes, It Really Is Against US Law To Boycott Israel

The Bureau is charged with administering and enforcing the Antiboycott Laws under the Export Administration Act. Those laws discourage, and in some circumstances, prohibit U.S. companies from furthering or supporting the boycott of Israel sponsored by the Arab League, and certain Moslem countries, including complying with certain requests for information designed to verify compliance with the boycott. Compliance with such requests may be prohibited by the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and may be reportable to the Bureau.
