MI5 Files Must be Kept From 7/7 Victims' Families, Coroner Told

Disclosing MI5 files about the July 7 suicide bombers to the families of those killed in the London attacks would be "impossible", counsel for the Security Service and the home secretary said today.

Investigating claims that MI5 could have prevented the 2005 atrocities would involve "handing over the keys" to MI5's Thames House headquarters, Neil Garnham QC told a hearing to decide the scope of the inquests into the bombings.

He said sensitive intelligence could be seen by the coroner and counsel to the inquests. However, any jurors would be subjected to intrusive vetting, he said, and neither the bereaved families nor their lawyers would be allowed to see it.'

The Mail asks: which train did the four Muslims catch from Luton to London on the morning of the bomb blasts?

The three separate Tube explosions at Edgware Road, Aldgate and King's Cross occurred together at exactly 8.50am.

The official reports said the bombers got on the 7.40am train from Luton.

However, the 7.40am train never ran that morning.

It was cancelled.

Tony Blair Pushed Gordon Brown to Hold Iraq War Inquiry in Private

Tony Blair urged Gordon Brown to hold the independent inquiry into the Iraq war in secret because he feared that he would be subjected to a "show trial" if it were opened to the public, the Observer can reveal.

The revelation that the former prime minister - who led Britain to war in March 2003 - had intervened will fuel the anger of MPs, peers, military leaders and former civil servants, who were appalled by Brown's decision last week to order the investigation to be conducted behind closed doors.

Blair, who resisted pressure for a full public inquiry while he was prime minister, appears to have taken a deliberate decision not to express his view in person to Brown because he feared it might leak out.

Instead, messages on the issue were relayed through others to Sir Gus O'Donnell, the cabinet secretary, who conveyed them to the prime minister in the days leading up to the announcement of the inquiry last week.

Call for Public Inquiry Into 7/7 Bombings From Former Head of Counter-terrorism

An independent public inquiry should be held into how suicide terrorists were able to carry out the July 7 bombings, Scotland Yard’s former head of counter-terrorism says.

Andy Hayman, who was Assistant Commissioner for Special Operations at the time of the bombings in 2005, is the first figure from the security establishment to break ranks and call for an open inquiry.

Almost four years after Mohammad Sidique Khan and his Leeds-based cell carried out the bombings, Mr Hayman says that he is “uncomfortable” with the official position that an inquiry would divert resources from the fight against terrorism.

Inquiry Into 7/7 Branded 'Whitewash' by Victims

Survivors and victims' relatives of the July 7 London bombings today branded an official inquiry into the terror attacks “a complete whitewash”.

The report by the Parliament Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) published today said that it was “understandable and reasonable” that the bombers had not been detected and that the judgments made by the security service before July 2005 could not be criticised.

“This isn't an independent committee as they claim. It has been a group of MPs that have been hand-picked by the Prime Minister. We don't know what evidence they received in secret, if it was challenged and how it was challenged. They got it wrong the first time round so how can the public possibly have confidence in this report.”

MI5 to Escape Criticism Over 7/7 Bombings

The long-awaited Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) report into the suicide bombings which left 52 people dead and hundreds injured in July 2005 will effectively clear MI5 and the police of failing to prevent the attacks.

Sources have revealed that the report, to be published on Tuesday, will state that no new intelligence has emerged since the publication of the first report in May 2006.

Three Cleared of Helping 7/7 Bombers - Another Frame up Collapses

The three men, all from Beeston in Leeds, who have been acquitted by a jury, were the only people ever to be charged in relation to the bombings of July 2005.

They had been accused of conducting a "hostile reconnaissance" mission for the bombers seven months before the attacks.

Outcome of The First Unusual DVD Court Case

The British government through Westminster Magistrates Court are looking to have John Anthony Hill extradited to the UK, accused of mailing a DVD (with no letter) to a court, to face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment . The DVD was titled to the judge and to the “foreman of the jury”. I think most people would have faith that a court administrators would know whether to legally pass it on or not, which they did not pass on. The way it was sent makes it impossible to pervert the course of justice.

Police Ordered to Release 7/7 Footage

Police have been ordered to release footage of the July 7 bombers after a three-year freedom of information battle. The Information Commissioner overruled objections from Scotland Yard that disclosure could disrupt its investigations, and ordered that seven pieces of footage should be released.
The force has 35 days to either appeal or disclose the material.

Government Wants School Children to "Think Like 7/7 Terrorists"

A government teaching pack, provided to secondary schools throughout the UK, has been strongly criticized for asking children as young as ten years old to imagine themselves as suicide bombers.

The teaching pack contains an exercise in which children are required to “prepare a brief presentation on the 7/7 bombings from the perspective of the bombers”.
