Czech Workers Protest Wage Cuts


Tens of thousands of public sector workers have staged rallies in the Czech capital, Prague, to protest the government's plans to slash salaries.

According to police estimates, some 30,000 people participated in the Tuesday rallies.

State employees' unions said they could accept salary freezes but a proposed cut of 10 percent for public sector employees was unacceptable.'
