Mossad Guns in Tallaght


When Shamrock Rovers hosted Israeli soccer team Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv in the Europa League at Tallaght earlier this month, “Hoops” fans were a little fazed to see a group of Israeli security men monitoring the crowd, with at least one of them openly flaunting his automatic fire-arm.

Alarmed fans approached gardai present at the match to be told that Israeli security agents had been granted permission to attend the event carrying arms.

The Garda press office told Goldhawk that they could not answer any queries, ie. why the gardai were not considered adequate to carry out security duties on Irish territory and if they had any concerns about Mossad and/or Israeli security agents flashing guns at a football match in Dublin.

This is because the Department of Justice had over­ruled the Gardai and insisted that Israeli agents be allowed to carry arms at a football match as a substitute for the Gardai, equipped as they are with all manner of armed, specialist units. Normally, all security arrangements are a matter for the Gardaí unless otherwise stipulated by the government.

That Ahern should capitulate to the Israelis in a security matter in our own jurisdiction is staggering under the circumstances.'
