Good Samaritan Threatened With Arrest After Organising Whip-Round For Pensioner's £115 Penalty Fare

A train guard threatened a passenger with arrest after he went to the aid of a sobbing pensioner who had boarded the wrong train.
Lena Ainscow, 75, was left in tears when she was ordered to pay £115 for a new ticket to London.
When fellow passenger Tom Wrigglesworth stepped in to organise a whip-round to help her, the guard said his actions were akin to begging and warned him that police would be called in.
