Some Oklahomans Want a State Militia to Resist Washington

Fed up with what they see as Washington's intrusion into their state, Oklahoma "tea party" leaders and some conservative legislators want to create a volunteer militia to defend against the federal government, the Associated Press writes.

"Is it scary? It sure is," said Al Gerhart, a tea party activist who heads the Oklahoma Constitutional Alliance. "But when do the states stop rolling over for the federal government?" '

The Gods of D.C. Mean To Rule You By Brute Force

Not too long ago, I said in a column that if the states of the Union do not stand up to the federal machine they are going to find themselves little more than occupied territories before the next year is gone. For years I have beat the drum to get states to reconstitute the constitutional militia because our very freedom depends on it. The proper role of our military is not to be used against we the people, but to protect and defend against foreign and domestic enemies of this republic.
