A Mother's Nightmare: Oregon Judge Holds Canadian Child Without Cause

Some stories are so far-fetched, so incredible, that they are hard to believe at first look, even though they ring of truth. This is especially the case where someone has lost their child to “the state”. Always, there’s more to the story than is first presented, and they usually have a complicated, negative twist. People often assume the worst, assigning guilt where it doesn't belong. Fair? That term does not apply.

The arduous journey of 12-year old Noah Kirkman is one such story. An unfinished story.

Judge in Charge of Family Courts Criticises ‘Arrogant Social Workers’

Social workers have been criticised as “arrogant and enthusiastic removers of children from their parents” by the judge who takes charge of the family courts today.

Lord Justice Wall said that the determination of some social workers to place children in an “unsatisfactory care system” away from their families was “quite shocking”.

In a separate case, on which Sir Nicholas Wall also sat, Lord Justice Aikens described the actions of social workers in Devon as “more like Stalin’s Russia or Mao’s China than the West of England”.

The criticism of social workers from two of the most senior family court judges came as the number of children placed in care has reached a record high after the Baby Peter tragedy.'

Police: Teaching Kids to Mistrust Government Makes Couple ‘Unsuitable’ Parents

Texans, beware: If you teach your kids that the “government is out to harm them,” police in Williamson County might just deem you an “unsuitable” parent.

That startling claim, leveled by officers in Child Protective Services documents detailing an investigation into an Austin-area activist couple, should be enough to give reason for pause to any staunch conservative in the state.

The allegation was made against drug reform activist filmmakers Barry and Candi Cooper, whose home was recently raided and searched after the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department claimed Barry’s voice was heard in the background audio of an allegedly false police report.

Once in the couple’s home, officers discovered a small amount of marijuana and charged the Coopers with Class B misdemeanors, resulting in both their arrests. Each immediately bonded out of jail and paid a small fine. Days later, while Candi’s youngest son was visiting his father in east Texas, Child Protective Services contacted the Coopers, revealing that the incident could cost them not only custody of the boy, but also their freedom on felony child endangerment charges.'
