Common Purpose Trustee and Scottish Sheriff Andrew Cubie Takes Charge of Special Needs School


Sir Andrew Cubie, the lawyer whose work has heavily influenced Scottish education policy, has been appointed chairman of a Perthshire school for children with special needs.

Sir Andrew, whose report in 2000 on tuition fees led to the up-front levy being abolished, said that he was “absolutely delighted” to be taking the helm at the New School, Butterstone.

He described the school, which takes pupils who have struggled in mainstream education, as “innovative and inspiring”.'
